Is Amazon an authorized sales channel for DeWalt? Wouldn't want to get stuck with a void warranty. I know Milwaukee's are totally different company, but they won't honor your warranty if you purchased through Amazon.

Dewalt and other tools are highly counterfeited and can be sold through Amazon.
Go through a reputable source like Lowes, Home Depot, and the like if you want to ensure getting a legit product. And it's $89 on Lowes.com so buy there instead of Amazon.
has dewalt made a statement on it? it is odd that on dewalt com, one some items can click buy now and the price spider will show amazon as one of the retailers.
also, is "the DEWALT Store" on amazon supported by dewalt?
I've warrantied 1 Milwaukee item (the adapter for the heated coat) and 1 Dewalt drill (light would come on but drill wouldn't turn ) both purchased fromAmazon (not other sellers via marketplace) both sent me replacements within a week. Not sure why they wouldn't honor their own warranty for anyone.

Good advice. This is the case with most things on Amazon. If you can avoid buying anything on Amazon, you should.

Because not everything sold on amazon is real these days. High amounts of counterfeits make their way into the same bins as genuine tools. Sure, 9 out of 10 times you may be getting a genuine product but it's still to risky to deal with.
Not to mention, tools usually don't go on these huge sales without them being honored through the manufacturer first and if that's the case, HD, Lowes, Menards and so on will also have that deal too...so i'd rather just get it from them instead of risking amazon.
I finally got to use mine today that I got from a previous deal and it really is a fantastic multi tool. Didn't think I was missing much with my crum bum ryobi but its so much nicer to use and easier blade changes means I can actually swap to the blade I need instead of trying to shove the corner of the blade into stuff and screwing it all up.
Also, it sounds really neat. Not like a big deal or anything and I'm not like a big sounds guy- but it sounds cool! Like a tiny robot trying to sing!
