That has been my experience with niche / party-trick cameras as well. Hence I've been on the fence. I've been eyeing this thing for a while now. You can do some really cool shots using it. If it were between this and an action camera, I'd chose this over a GoPro any day. The question is, would I use it more than a couple times. Doubtful.

As an FYI, this thing came out in April 2024. Insta 360 typically refreshes this model once every 1.5 years. the X5 is expected sometimes this year with a larger sensor (1" type) that will improve image quality and with more stretch resistant lenses. This thing apparently scratches up really easily.

This is a niche camera with a couple impressive party tricks. Most people will use it a couple times then never again. Some will absolutely love it.
