Wonder if it's worth holding out to see what the upcoming SE4 brings and at what price point.

FALSE INFORMATION!
Many of us have unlocked ST/TW/TF models at 60 days with only the original 30 days of paid service.
Just read any of the TF/TW/ST threads on SD in the past 3 years, you'll find plenty of actual users confirming unlock procedure.

Do your research. CS is very poorly trained & often just reads from a manual or script, they know less than most users.

FYI - my 13 unlocked just now, a day earlier than txt message said - with only the original purchased 30 day plan.

NOTE: unlock policy has changed as of 4/1/25 and now requires 60 days of paid service (30 days no longer works).

Also , not all stores do in-store activation. So you have to find out store , who have OSL team member that can help you with activation. So its YMMV

I wish I was that lucky. Neither of my two devices is eligible, even after purchasing a second month of service. Several calls and even a callback following an FCC complaint were completely fruitless. They just keep repeating that I must complete 60 days of paid service, with no exceptions. The takeaway is that this outcome isn't guaranteed, even if it worked for some people.
If you purchased 2nd month why wouldn't phone qualify for unlock? Why are they saying no?

They are forcing me to accumulate 60 days of paid service, not just 60 days since activation.

For me, tfwunlockpolicy.com shows my phone is eligible to unlock as soon as I paid for 2nd month service. My timeline:

Day 0: activate it with one month service.
Day 60: check tfwunlockpolicy.com and it told me it's not eligible to unlock, also sickw.com say it's locked.
Paid for one month service online and checked tfwunlockpolicy.com again, it's eligible and then I submit an unlock request.
Day 62: Found it's still locked on sickw.com then I called the unlock department, one lady told me I have to wait till 6pm (EST). I asked if she can do anything to "boost" it, she said she can't.
Check again around 6:15pm (EST) on sickw.com and it's unlocked already.

That's the requirement for everyone since 4/1.
You said "Neither of my two devices is eligible, even after purchasing a second month of service" - after 60 days & paying for 2 months phones should qualify for unlock, that's the current policy. Need to meet both requirements.

Paying for days 31 to 60 is decidedly different as compared to accruing the actual service days before unlock. Most of us are getting unlocked by paying for days 31 to 60 - the unlock is occurring 60 days post initial activation. This sounds like a particular CS worker changing the rules since this person's unlock did not happen automatically.

Which of the VZ Value brands is jerking you around like this?

File a complaint with the FCC if you don't want to deal with low level folks and perhaps that department will unlock you before you accrue all your days through day 60.

The formal requirement is to accrue 60 days of paid service - not just to pay for it - and every support representative confirmed this, including the one who called me following an FCC complaint. Some people simply get lucky, and their phones are treated differently by the system. For both of my phones, the system shows the number of paid days accrued so far, which is still below 60. They either refuse or are unable to do anything about it, so I just have to wait. My point is that an automatic unlock after the second payment isn't guaranteed - it's more of a glitch than a feature.

As with everything TF/ST/TW, it's all YMMV. they have a bunch of high school programmers duct tape their various systems together.

Can you downgrade the monthly plan for 2nd month?

Yes. There's no requirement for a specific plan after first month purchase.

This is the worst deal I have bought.

I bought two months of service. However customer service refused to unlock my phone, saying this was not the same number I activated. I have always been using this number and straight talk gave me this number. I asked to speak to manager and customer service said this is impossible.

I opened a FCC claim.

Sigh I hopped on here because my phone is still locked after leaving it alone for a little over 2 months. I let my service lapse for over a month. Can I just buy a 30 day card? Will I still have the same number? I already erased the phone too since I was planning on using it today

Buy cheapest month pin.

Activated iphones in March with one month plan each.

Plans expired and waited about 27 days before adding lower cost discounted plans.
iphones showed Sim Restricted.

After 60 days of activation phones say Sim Unrestricted so they unlocked after 60 days even though only 3 days into new second month plans.

Interesting. I bought and activated 30 days on Feb. 22. Bought another 30 days on May 5 and as of today, still locked.

Possibly your original number was deleted since more than 30 days so might need to have 60 days paid on same number.

Suggest call ST and perhaps they can unlock.

I bought another 30 days on the same number. I believe I was told that after your service ends they keep the phone number available for 60 days just in case you want service again.
