I have listened to these, and they are a departure from the HD 600 and 650 with their "neutral" sound. The mids feel a bit muffled compared to the older, cheaper 600 series headphones. The build quality is excellent, and they are just as comfortable as their predecessors.

Even at full retail I would recommend the HD 600 for netural, or the HD 650/6XX for a little more bass before the 660s2. For reference, I have utilized the HD600 or HD6XX as my daily driver for 5+ years.

I still rock my marble HD600 as they are a bit more "true neutral." The HD6XX/650 have a bass bump that most people will enjoy though.

These appear to be much more relaxed in the treble as well. I'm seeing comments by users that reviewers left out, that the imaging and bass quality/tactility is better than on the other 600 series headphones.

I think the major issue at this price point, is that you have "better" options (AKG K702, Hifiman Sundara) unless you specifically want the Sennheiser design/fit. Another thing to keep in mind for those cranially blessed folks, the HD6x0 headphones are quite a tight fit until broken in. If you plan on stretching them over a box or something, remove the earpads first as they will flatten quickly under the pressure.

For less money the HE400se ( drop x4) measure better, look at the measurements on Audio science Review

Measurements don't matter nearly as much as my ears. Or yours.
