I'm not understanding this fad or design of shoe.

I was recently at the mall and saw the most hideous pair of sneakers I've ever seen. They looked similar to this and were white/purple.

They were also like $1,500, which I don't understand at all. Other people were picking them up, looking at them and scoffing at the design and price as well.

These are homages to the Adidas Kobe Bryant 1 which were inspired by the Audi TT Roadster. He wore these during his first and second championship seasons so there's some retro and sentimental value there.

I have a pair and I will tell you your feet will not love you back. It is rigid, tight, and runs small. It will make your feet look smaller.

These look less like they were inspired by a beautiful car like the Audi TT (which I love and keep coming close to buying used, coupe, not roadster) and more like they are an homage to dog turds. Not regular dog turds, but the crazy ones after a dog eats things they are definitely not supposed to eat. I can't help but think that Kobe is rolling over in his grave.
