Take $100 VISA/MC/AMEX card & an HEB card to the register. Ask them to load 20 on the HEB card. When they scan your digital coupon the 20 comes off your total.

seems like a too good to be true deal.. is it really that simple? I usually spend about 300 anyway in groceries, could i go in first, but all 3, register them, then walk back in and use everything? Of course after fees, you only get about 40 bucks from all 3, but thats still 40 bucks
Yes you can do that

Yup, use the Visa to pay for MasterCard, use the MasterCard pay for Amex card .. end up with $18 out of pocket and have $60 HEB giftcard. or just use 5% cash back and pay all at once. your next trip at HEB you can use any or all of those cards
Since there's a $5.95 activation fee, how does that transaction go through?

Why would you want to do that? 2 cards x 2 activation fee!

I would buy Amex first then MC then Visa since more places accept Visa than the other two

The problem is HEB won't let you use a gift card to buy another gift card. I've just tried it and the transaction was declined. Talked to the store manager and he said no go because you're using a gift card to buy another gift card.

I've just tried it but did not work. I purchased the AMEX and used it to buy the MC but transaction was declined. The store manager came over and he knew the reason right away, "You cannot use a gift card to purchase another gift card."

Went home and used the AMEX to pay my AT&T bills. No problem there. lol

Personally, I used my Chase with 5% cash back and bought all 100$ each vis,, mc, amex and 3 x $20 HEB giftcards all in one transaction with cashier at checkout at ClearLake HEB in Houston. but it would work at any HEB store
