I had exactly the same problem with a Pixel 8 Pro that I got thru Spectrum. I spent way too much time trying to get it to work on several Verizon resellers

Why not stick with Spectrum Mobile vs. Verizon? Same service for much less per month, correct?

key word is resellers, AKA MVNO's, not mother Verizon herself.

Yes and yes
So if you do multiple upgrades on the same line, is the first upgrade phone still eligible for unlock since it was only on the service for 1 week or however long?

If I buy an iPhone 13 from MetroPCS, will Spectrum allow for trade in it for this S25 phone? The MetroPCS iphone 13 is not unlocked.

Yes they will. I did the same with the iPhone 12 though.

I had issues with Spectrum Samsung phones, after a struggle to unlock it. When using them on Verizon, my esim won't work. I don't think Spectrum-brand Samsung phones are compatible with Verizon. I have a Fold5 and S23 Ultra that I can't activate the esim on Verizon.

Verizon blamed Spectrum, Spectrum said they unlocked everything on their end, and Samsung said there's no issue with their phones.

Multiple cases over a year have gotten no resolution.

Yes, I had the same issue with pixel 8 pro from Spectrum. Even after unlocking, esim didn't work for Verizon.

Would iphone 12 pro max work for trade in? Or must be basic 13?

Just had a conversation with the agent. May be its not great offer if its spread over months

Me : If i pay for the phone in full, do i get the credit back immediately
Agent :no you get the credit once the company receives the device and assesses it
the credit is spread over months
Me :got it, so its not spread over 36 months. Still i intend to use SPectrum mobile for atleast a year
So if i get $700 more for my iphone 13 as trade in, this 700 is spread over 36 months?
Agent : whatever you qualify for will be spread over time
its not a lump sum credit
Me : how many months?
Agent : 36 months
Me :THanks, i feel that its not a great offer. I'll check with other carriers, thanks again

I did this last year and the year before.

Pay everything off.

Once you receive confirmation that your trade-in was accepted for the $xxx amount, request the credits be returned to original payment method via chat or phone call.

Wait for unlock period (if you're only trying to unlock and bail).

Close account.

This is totally false. If you pay in full at purchase, they will credit your account the full trade in amount and you can contact customer service to refund the credit back to your credit card. I did it twice with the S24 last year.

Do they refund you the difference in tax after the trade-in?

I did this basically in 2023 in store, but I'm wondering if I do this online this year will they refund the tax credit between the trade-in value and the new value?

Does Spectrum still refund the credits if the device is paid in full? Or do they only apply as monthly billing credit?
Yes. They do refund the credits after the phone is paid off. I recently did pay full amount for the phone and got credits as refund. Contact chat representative to do this process. Don't go to store. They will say credits wont be refunded.
