My problem with these charges is that you have to place them in right position and spot for it to charge. Some sleepy nights I would just place my S22U on my wireless charger on my night stand, and fall asleep, only to wake up with 20% battery because I did not place the phone just the right position. I believe there are some cases with magsafe but I didn't like most of their designs, plus it also means I have to get a magsafe charger, and I need 2 hands to pull it from the magnet every time.
They used to have upright chargers, I still have one of those, it says "Fast Charge" but it doesn't charge that fast, but at least those you don't have to worry about if you placed it in right position or not. If I had 3d printer, I would print a tamplate or an opening that phone would fit so there is no risk of not getting charged.

Yeah, I was excited about wireless chargers for a while, and I have the Samsung 3 in 1 charger on my nightstand. The problem is that the right wired charger is SO much faster., and like you said, by the time I'm ready for bed, it's dark and can be a challenge to properly align the phone on a charger without moving around much or making noise. Plugging in at 30 watts or more is just easier and faster most of the time.

Just get an upright Anker or Aukey one they work great. The one I have has never had problems with misalignment.

Yeah, alignment is a problem. I got a magnetic case for my Pixel and use Magsafe chargers. I have one in the car now. The Pixel 9 ProXL is a mighty heavy phone. Hasn't fallen off yet.

Odd that my Nexus 5 from more than 10 years ago had wireless charging and alignment magnets...

What I found works well for me are the rectangular pads like this one that are roughly phone sized, and have a bunch of coils in there to help with alignment:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/urlhas.../868969883
It can charge 2 devices placed perpendicular to the pad, or you can just place a single device lined up on the pad. Since the phone and the pad are roughly the same size and shape, that's super easy to do even in the dark, as my fingers on the left and right of the phone also line up with the left and right of the pad. Then, the multiple coils take care of alignment on the other axis so I don't have to worry about getting that one very accurate at all.
Here's the alignment I'm talking about being easy to do in the dark:

I've had the same old qi charging pad from 2012? No later than 2015. Cheap, works. Yeah I have to fiddle with it sometimes to get it aligned right, but that's not a deal breaker. There are better ones with more than one charging zone so it's not as finicky to get aligned. I have one at bedside and one in the car. If these dimensions work for me, I'll pick it up for the car. Oh, and charging is handled by the phone. It's up to the phone to stop accepting charge when it's full or at the level you've set on the phone. I have mine set to 80% to improve battery life span.

I have a Flip 5 and my phone sits perfectly flush on this. So Flip users will not have alignment issues on this one unlike everyone else in this comment section with a normal slab phone. In for another one at this price!

If you have a Pixel 6 or never, you should keep an eye out on a good deal for a Pixel Stand 2. It charges a few never devices (8 Pro, 9 and 9 Pro XL) at over 20W.
