The cards will come with 12vhpwr to multiple pcie power cable adapters so you don't "need" a new PSU if it's powerful enough. The downside is they are big and ugly (and not cable management friendly) compared to 1 single small-ish cable.

I'm considering picking one of these PSU's up bc I am looking to upgrade to 9800x3d and with my current 4070, the newegg power calculator says I am right on the edge of what my current PSU is supposed to put out... and while it has worked fine for the last 5+ years it wasn't exactly a high end one to start with, not sure I want to risk a $700+ upgrade to an old $65 power supply

edit - gonna pass. A quick reddit search came across a couple threads of Cooler Master MWE PSUs blowing. And the OEM is some company I have never heard of = Huizhou Xinhuiyuan Technology
When the GPU is $2k, suddenly everything else seems cheap
It still expensive. $2k gpu, no thanks unless I am making money with it. For games, I'll buy old gpus.

Looks like they used an LLM to generate the description 😂. Never heard of this site before, but that doesn't inspire confidence.

Not familiar with AAAwave but they appear to be a legit PC parts store in CA. Amz $159 and Newegg $149 are both higher, so this seems like a decent deal on a beast of a PSU.

edit - found this evaluation. Not sure what all the #'s mean, but efficiency is "platinum" while noise is "standard+"

I'm thinking of trying to grab a 5080 (coming from a 3090) will I need these new PSU? or will my current PSU that doesn't have this 12pin out be okay? current psu is 1000 watts but it doesn't have the new outlet that atx 3.0 has

AMD needed something between the 4090 and 5090 performance range to really bring down prices. The 9700 XT they are releasing is going to do nothing for higher end gaming. Expect this to be the norm going forward.

Remember when everyone lost their minds when the Titan was released for 1K?

It's double that now in 12 years.

Titan X in 2015 was also $999. So doubled across <10 years.

thanks! i realized not to cheap out on a PSU a while ago lol. My current one is a 1k watt Corsair. During the 10 year warranty, it crapped out on me but they replaced it very easily. Hoping to get the 5080 this release (not sure if I will be lucky on Bestbuy).

Why do you think AMD would bring down prices? Don't pretend like they aren't just as expensive as the market leader whenever they have the better part. Look at the 9800X3D. Priced comparably to intel's flop of a counterpart.

And their GPUs, all fit between slots of the Nvidia stack. If they had a 5090 or 5080 killer it would be priced the same or maybe off by 100 because it would lack in 'features' beyond raster.

I need a new PSU but I'll stick with Silverstone. I've never had an issue with them.

the new ATX 3.0 handles the bigger power spike that new gpu's pull. you could have issues and chase your tail diagnosing or get the new PSU.

I think he's just saying there's no competition at the top of the market to keep the ceiling low.
