One major difference is the noodles. They are thinner and not quite nice in texture compared to the packets because they are designed to be ready just in a couple of minutes without boiling. Flavor-wise they are similar. So you trade noodle quality for convenience of a cup.

Kroger currently has the better deal for this Shin Black.

However, you have to buy 3 of the 4-packs, which end up getting $2 off each making it $5 for a 4-pack. (you don't have to buy 3 of the Shin, just any 3 eligible items).

Total amount is 612g for this deal at $8 makes it: 0.013 g/$

The 4-pack has (65g per serving, at 8 servings for the whole 4-pack), which is 520g. For $5, it makes it cheaper, at: 0.009 g/$

If you equalize the amount, this deal is $8 while the Kroger deal would beat it at $5.88, a 26% savings over this deal ($2.12 cheaper).

Just don't drink all the soup. That's going to lower salt a lot

This seems like a good price for the black; anyone know if this is comparable to a ramen packet of shin black?

Great price for one of my favorite ramen flavors. If you're a fan of the buldak stuff but never tried this one, I highly recommend.

Note that its 1500mg salt per cup, you're not going to share it with two people as suggested which is silly as these are not that big.

As long as you don't eat anything else salty that day you are OK.

That's what I do, not drink all the soup to lessen the sodium intake.
