I posted a message on this laptop a few days back - I Ultimately returned this laptop. From my experience, the build quality is pretty good and battery life is great. The screen did look a little off to me for some reason and I couldn't figure out exactly what's off about it. Here are some of the outstanding issues it has, FYI:

1 – Power On. Sometimes it works with 1 press. Sometimes it works with 2 or 3 or 4 presses. Sometimes if I press it once, it will turn on right away. Sometimes I press it once and wait maybe 10 seconds it will eventually come on. Not sure what the problem is.

2 – Audio crackling noise while on battery power. You can google this and see other people with the same problem but no solutions. Some suggested installing drivers from 2019, which I don't want to do. The audio doesn't have random crackling noise while plugged in, but if I'm on battery power, the speakers, wired and wireless headphones will all have random crackling noises. It's because of the power savings on the Realtek driver and there's no way to disable that with the new Realtek control panel (according to Asus tech support). Maybe there will be a software update... eventually...

3 – External monitor via USB C / Thunderbolt – If I attach an external monitor via the Thunderbolt USB-C port, it won't get recognized. It gives a device error and won't recognize the monitor at all. The same monitor / cable works with my gaming laptop and also works with a friend's Macbook Pro. This seems to be an Asus issue as you can google it and find plenty of people having this problem. No solutions found, although the external monitor works with an Asus X13 from 2022 via the non-Thunderbolt USB C port.

4 - Asus proprietary power charging - I have an Anker 67W PD charger but the laptop sees it as a "slow" charger and won't charge fast. It recommends the 65W PD charger that came with the laptop which obnoxiously doesn't have folding power prongs. Seems like Asus pulled an Apple and want people to buy their proprietary charging bricks. Somebody mentioned it might've been my Anker charger but I'm going to guess no based on Asus's track record.

5 - I hate the keyboard - it's nice to type on but you can hardly see the keys under many conditions. You can't see the keys during the day or in a bright room with the backlights turned on. You can barely make out the keys at night with a light either with the backlight on or off. Apparently this is a common complaint on the Asus Vivobook series.

6 - Mine was silver but I read a lot of complaints about finger print magnet on the black version.

7 - Case is VERY difficult to open to upgrade - the center has a glued screw cover - WHY? - hard to get off without scratching the whole thing.

be aware walmart has better warranty since you could register it at asus website to get complimentary ADP, but bestbuy models are excluded for some reason.

Extremely low? Nope. It's a 14" laptop. People are so stupid regarding resolution. It is 60hz but it's a great display for $800 with the specs. Like, unbeatable.

Zenbook models will likely feel a bit more quality and are more likely to have a touchscreen, but a lot of them are still Core 14th gen or Meteor Lake (Ultra Series 1) and thus have significantly worse battery life.
ZenBook s14 has lunar lake but huge price difference

Zenbooks in general are a higher tier line than vivobooks.

Biggest difference is going to be build quality (ceraluminum) and the 2880x1800 120hz touch screen.

I have a Zenbook 14 OLED with the 1080p 60hz OLED screen and it's... okay. My gripe with it is that scaling doesn't work great. I find that 100% scaling is best for productivity, but it's almost too small. While 125% scaling makes everything too big. Watching content on it is great though.

This, or keep $530 open box excellent best buy 226V 16GB RAM version? I just wanted a light, portable, long battery life laptop for office work and light coding. Already have a separate desktop for performance stuff.

This seems like 50% more cost for more RAM and marginally better processor? I sure wish had an open box deal...

Same question still stuck on this issue. Also the quality of this laptop doesn't seem great (I bought the 16gb and contemplating returning)

I did not find the exact model on BB -- the model on BB is "mist blue" and this is black.

I'm surprised they would PM when the model number is not exactly the same.

What do y'all use the touchscreen for that isn't better with a mouse or Wacom?
My wife and I have matching LG 16" Gram laptops, the only difference is mine has a touchscreen. I use it all the time for scrolling and quickly tapping on-screen buttons. She thought she wouldn't need a touchscreen...but she's constantly reaching up to poke at the screen before remembering she can't! So it's not that one "must" have a touchscreen but it does come as second nature when the screen is within arms reach.

This model is an exclusive to Walmart. Kind of like how you might see different model numbers for products at warehouse stores like Costco and Sam's Club. It prevents price matching. So very surprised this person was able to price match.

I'd keep the one you've got. If you don't need the extra performance, why spend more? I think the 226v will be great for office work for years to come.

I think the quality is ok. Not great, but decent. I ordered the Ultra 5 model from Best Buy for $599 and I think it's a decent deal for the money. But the fact that the lid warps just bothers me (you can see the gap in the middle when it's closed) and I think the plastic bezel around the screen cheapens the look. 60 hz lower res screen was another knock (although it is OLED). Ultimately I'm not picking it up. I got a great price on a Lenovo Yoga 7x so I'll probably be going with that instead.

I know there are a lot of people clowning on the folks saying the resolution is bad, but it's a legitimate concern. I had a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro back in college that had an actual 2K display (not the FHD ones that claim to be 2K). It was nice. I then bought a Yoga C930 with a FHD display. That display was garbage compared to the 2K one. Now, I don't want an FHD display anymore after stepping down from 2K. It was super noticeable.

That being said, it's likely the C930 panel was just a low quality one. I'm sure this OLED on this machine is a better panel that the C930. But there is a reason why some of us don't want FHD.
