Be advised before purchasing this product.. folks love the functionality, but the app is now required.. Google app store users say the app is pay walled now ($9.99/yr), so all you can do with the free app is set the temp.. others say the free app cuts off mid way thru the cooking cycle and you must know the remaining time when you reset..

A review on Amazon left January 17, 2025 said this:

It would concern me that the manufacturer can remove functionality or put it behind a paywall any time they want to, as that what this sounds like: something that was free and working is now only for those who pony up more.
It looks like blowback was so bad they decided to grandfather in existing customers, but reading the comments, they're all pissed:

for the record this is a great deal. Facts: I own one, it works great, the wifi/bluetooth is iffy, but works 75% of the time. The manual still works fine except for the only physical control, scroll wheel. With that said, DON'T buy any thing from this company. They sent an email saying since this product is over 10 years old, we will no longer allow it to connect to the app. So it's only manual now if the scroll wheel works as intended. you can google about other customers complaining about not being able to use the app with their old products anymore. What a greedy money grabbing company. I wouldn't support them.

Basic features don't require a subscription. You do need an app though.

Available online at Walmart for $38 with free shipping if you have Walmart+. However doesn't appear to be available in store.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Anova-Precision-Sous-vide-Cooker-Bluetooth-800W-Anova-App-Included/553619... [walmart.com]

I stand corrected, thanks to lastusername. Walmart will ship for free since this is over their $35 threshold. It still appears to be available at $38 at Walmart today (1/27).

New edit:
Just checked Amazon and they currently show a price of $42.78 but with a 20% coupon -- resulting in a net price of $34.22. So check your Amazon account to see if you also have this 20% coupon which would result in a lower price than Walmart.

have had mine for several years its amazing, you can buy air seal bags on amazon for cheap or just use a zip lock bag submerge and a straw to get the air tight, i bought a $5 wal mart tub and i use it for water, every cook needs one in his kitchen.

I owned one that went EoL for the app. It's one from many years ago and they grandfathered all those people in to get app access for free without a subscription on any newer models. Upgraded to the pro over Christmas and love it. I agree the making a product go EoL for app usage sucked but they eventually made up for forcing old users to go subscription for the app.

This cooker was working great until the company got greedy for more money from customers that have already paid them by adding a paywall to the app.
Now remote monitoring and management of cooking through the app is basically useless.
In the past you could monitor cooking time and recieve updates if water level got low.
It would concern me that the manufacturer can remove functionality or put it behind a paywall any time they want to, as that what this sounds like: something that was free and working is now only for those who pony up more.

For some reason I have a coupon for an additional 30% off. Is this worth it?
