Haha. Agreed. In this case, I think you could do a lot worse for 30 bucks. There's some good quality of life things on this like the rack and pinion height adjustment, tilting feet, a carry hook. My guess is that, unlike true pro items, this one aint exactly built to last. But to those looking for a first tripod, this is next level improvement over those I see in the 10 dollar range or included in those 15 dollar light stand packages.

I think that "carry hook" is actually to hold a weight to add stability. Keeps the tripod planted.

I have a cheap tripod and I hang my backpack from it with a bungy cord as a weight. Works decently enough that I am not worried about the wind tipping it over when I have the telezoom lens on it.
