Recent reviews starting in 2025 complain they're now enforcing the "new customers only" requirement. Congratulations to the Quicken dev team on finally closing such a critical bug /s.

Good suggestion on just making a new account!
No thanks entering 30 years of data to keep track of my personal and business transactions is no go in Google Sheets. I still have to find a way to pull reports and totals of categories and such and it would take years of work to put something together.

I'm frugal as can be and my wife hates me but you sometimes do not save anything being cheap if the cost in work, time and labor far outweighs the money spent. We are talking the price of a couple coffees here what are you saving doing all that extra work? One transaction download gets me transaction from 25 or so accounts and is done in few minutes. Just going out and grabbing all the statements would take me hours and it would take days to then enter them. That only gets you to the point where you still need to reconcile and hope that you entered no errors.

How do we account for transfers between accounts, capital gains, 401Ks, payroll deductions etc. would all be other things to work out. That would take more spreadsheet magic and many more hours. Ideally I would be better off learning to program and create a piece of software dedicated to keeping track of finances. Alternatively I can give some few dollars a year to someone that has already done that for me.

What you propose might be possible with one or two accounts but most have much more to keep track of. I love spreadsheets and they have many uses but they are not accounting software.
Whether you'd like to admit it or not, you are paying an annual subscription.

We are having some issues with Amazon links. Please keep trying; sometimes it takes two or three tries to get the link to work.

sold! if i can't renew I'll just create a new account and copy my data file.

extra bonus - i just discovered you can use your Amazon digital credits for software, I had no idea, I thought it was only for books and video.

I never have any use for these credits...will start paying more attention to them now!

I just bought a new subscription so I am good to May of 2026. If I can't add this to my existing account I will create a new account next year. There shouldn't be an issue in waiting to activate this purchase for 15 months?

Agreed, I bought a sub at xmas time and had to wait for the 180-day on my existing. Now it won't activate... ugh, annoying.

Very good catch and critical information.

I got this in a previous deal that was originally a Newegg deal in which somebody shared an Amazon alternative. At that time the price was $37. You can see that here. You can see that people buying from Amazon did get to extend subscriptions with the code and it worked for me.

I did purchase on 12/29 from Amazon and it did let me extend my subscription. Assume that may not be the case anymore. This lower priced version I assume is only for new customers as noted on the Amazon page but when I bought it said the same thing.

Does this run any better on the mac? I'd written the software off, but I'd consider it at this price.

For anybody considering this thinking you need the more expensive business version I would advise against it. I did not find the added features useful and did not miss it at all after downgrading to Deluxe. Actually felt foolish for paying for it in previous years.

You can do everything you need for business with accounts, categories, reports and the other features of the Deluxe version. They may have added something post me downgrading but what was in there a year or two back I never really used at all. More of a upsell versus a upgrade.

how long are these codes good for? My sub is up in June, and I purchased a code from Amazon last month? to do the work around renewal on a new sub (which I'm reading may not work any longer). I'm ok with creating new quicken accounts to be a new subscriber (I have a dozen email addresses associated with Sam's Club) but I don't want the code to expire before I can use it.

So were you successful in doing what others have said and creating a new account, the copying the data file over?
