Recent reviews starting in 2025 complain they're now enforcing the "new customers only" requirement. Congratulations to the Quicken dev team on finally closing such a critical bug /s.

Good suggestion on just making a new account!

No thanks entering 30 years of data to keep track of my personal and business transactions is no go in Google Sheets. I still have to find a way to pull reports and totals of categories and such and it would take years of work to put something together.

I'm frugal as can be and my wife hates me but you sometimes do not save anything being cheap if the cost in work, time and labor far outweighs the money spent. We are talking the price of a couple coffees here what are you saving doing all that extra work? One transaction download gets me transaction from 25 or so accounts and is done in few minutes. Just going out and grabbing all the statements would take me hours and it would take days to then enter them. That only gets you to the point where you still need to reconcile and hope that you entered no errors.

How do we account for transfers between accounts, capital gains, 401Ks, payroll deductions etc. would all be other things to work out. That would take more spreadsheet magic and many more hours. Ideally I would be better off learning to program and create a piece of software dedicated to keeping track of finances. Alternatively I can give some few dollars a year to someone that has already done that for me.

What you propose might be possible with one or two accounts but most have much more to keep track of. I love spreadsheets and they have many uses but they are not accounting software.

Should be able to ebay it and not even have to ship, just email the code.

Someone will buy it and say it was not received. Even if eBay sees the eBay mail with the key they will charge it back. Electronically delivered goods (outside of a couple categories) can only be listed by eBay approved sellers, thus they will rule against the normal person and scammers know this.

Correct, I am trying to apply within Quicken. It then replies and says it's not valid since I am not a new user.

Yeah, it's weird how it changed this year. My purchase was on 12/29 per my Amazon history, and that is the code that isn't working...

EDIT: Tried it again, the code is "accepted" when entered (Quicken gives a green-check next to it), but not accepted because I'm not a new user (I get an error message specific to this).
I also bought on 12/29 but do not know what exact day I entered it. Do believe it was about four days later which is into the new year. I just checked again to make sure it did apply and it did. Still no idea as to the why and and sorry to see you and some others get stuck.

Has anyone with an expired version gotten it to work, or are you still an existing customer since you have a login account?

Can confirm they are enforcing the new member thing...had to request a refund.
Didn't want to create a new account... Any negatives to doing that?

I signed up with new email, although same name and address. But, that was the only way I could activate it.

After reading EVERY comment, I have seen people STATE they are going to try to set up an new email account with Quicken to activate this offer and then try to import their current data file into the new subscription. I have not seen anyone state if that is successful.

Has anyone that is a current or past subscriber set up an new Quicken account and SUCCESSFULLY imported their data file? It has been MY experience Quicken is VERY proficient in loading "blank screens" when attempting to do stuff and that infuriates me.

Please let us ALL know if you have been successful with loading an older data file to a New User subscription. Thanks.

It asks for your Quicken account. When I logged in with my account that had run Classic in the past and expired for around a year it said the activation code was for New Subscribers only and gave me a link for a refund.
To use a new subscriber only version, you just have to register it with a new email account. Your data file still stay the same.

For Fidelity customers (and I think even if you are not), have you tried Fidelity "Full View"? Much more reliable than Quicken in consistently connecting to accounts and is free to access online on their website. You can link your external non-fidelity accounts including credit cards and it will track everything fine including your daily purchases to net worth.

You are kind of comparing apples and oranges there. They are many aggregator apps that do a very good job of what they do which is pulling data from a the web and presenting it to you in a kind of report view but the are not accounting software. If that is all you need you are good but it sure is not a good direct comparison.

Quicken has that itself as side feature but it is something I ever use as it is not what I need Quicken for. You just do not have the control of your data, transactions and accounts that the Quicken software offers.

As a for instance an aggregator app will not keep track of the deductions and transfers from a paycheck or my mortgage escrow account.

How did you get the refund? Did you do it with Quicken or Amazon and how?

My last refund came from Quicken. They sent me a bill . com invite to create an account. After setting up this account, I had to generate an invoice for them to pay. I think it took a week total and I did all the steps on my side without delay. I had to then link a bank account to transfer the funds out.

Agreed - I'd like to know this as well.

I figure Quicken couldn't care less about the refund, since it wasn't purchased from them. And Amazon clearly states that it's non-refundable as well. Maybe a chat with them might work (ie, YMMV) but my guess is they won't bother to do this often, if at all...
