Has anyone used the 35L one as a personal item? I see the dimensions are a little bit over, but as long as it isn't overfilled it probably wouldn't be an issue.

I used it for my recent trip overseas. It did store a lot, I was able to pack 5 days worth of clothing and personal items plus laptop. No issues with comfort but some of the stitching around the zippers did come loose after the one use so I returned it. Airlines probably have different policies but it will count as carry on luggage and not personal item if fully packed. Hit or miss if it fits under the seat too, varies too much by airline. great price though, tempted to give it another try.

Have used the 35L one as a personal item on domestic and international flights with no problems. Love it and have had compliments from traveling companions.

Just adding some info these have been on clearance for a while, so most of the stores might be out of stock rn. I bought 35L for recent domestic trip. Can carry a lot of stuff and laptop. I got it for this price and probably keep it, unless I see some issues as other poster mentioned.

I've used the 35L pack on Spirit flights as a free backpack and it's honestly like a cheat code if you don't overpack it

Backpacks are always a cheat code. I've never seen any airline including United/Spirit which are notoriously famous for being overly strict that complains about "normal" looking backpacks. yea if you show up in like a survival backback that's 80% of your height it's an obvious giveaway but something like this will always be ignored
