Is this a "if you hang it, they will come?", or do they have to be in the area. I'm in south jersey and have yet to see an oriole. Wonder if I hang a feeder, will come out of hiding.

My wife is constantly loading organic grape jelly into things. They come out of the woodwork, but I'm on the central coast of Cali.

Not sure about orioles specifically, but yes the type of feeder and food will make certain birds just show up.

Yes.. plus other birds will enjoy the variety. I have woodpeckers, finches, Grosbeak etc eating the jelly when the orioles aren't around or are nesting. Key is mid summer the orioles will disappear to tend to their chicks.. but it's good to keep feeding thru summer as the adults will bring some back to the nest and once the young fledge they'll follow the parents to the feeder..
