Neutral wire required. Also, on/offs not dimmers if that matters.

I think they started off as two companies making similar things. Tapo's app added integration for Kasa devices but Kasa's app did not add integration for Tapo devices.
I also feel like Tapo is still being developed but Kasa is not developing as much or at all.
So, currently, you can buy either brand and use Tapo's app to work with both brands' devices
