Are they playing a hard ball, trying to get SDers into submission at the inflated deal?

Nope, holding out for better deals
This isn't expired. Is this as good a price as we'll get if we are trying to file early this year? Need to make sure I get that federal EV Credit before Trump potentially does away with it.

It looks like you accidentally posted in the Deal Talk forum. The site should be designed to avoid that happening, but unfortunately there isn't a fair solution as things are since Rolltidde's deal wasn't a repost of anything in Hot Deals when it was posted. Frown

Thanks for posting it in Hot Deals OP, because this triggered my alert while the Deal Talk thread did not.

Still hoping for a better price, though

Still waiting for NewEgg to DROP the price of this software down to the $10-15 range.

After all, this is SlickDeals...and those of us here want a deal on this software.

As a matter of fact, residents in 25 states can file directly with the IRS for simple/basic Tax Filings, eliminating the need for Tax Prep software, further driving down the cost (due to lower demand).

Actually, it's been LOWER!

In past years, this software could have been had for Free After Rebate (FAR) due to the software being packaged with some other software (usually some crap VPN or Anti-Virus software) that had a rebate that exceeded the cost of the both pieces of software.

NewEgg, if I recall, has not done any FAR package deals with H&R Block in at least in the last 5 years. (note, I've been exclusively purchasing H&R Block Tax Prep software, usually through NewEgg, through SlickDeals, for at least the last 10+ years).

Last year was probably the highest I ever paid - $17.99.

I've got a lot of forms and I want to get started. I was going to HODL until $18 or so (for Deluxe with State) but it's worth four bucks to me to get going now. If it drops to $18 in early February I'll make a note of that for next year.

Download was fine with hand-entering code. If you copy/paste the code you will probably pick up the dash in the code and you can't proceed with the download, and hand-keying takes care of that. If you really want to copy/paste, paste somewhere first where you can take the dash out and it will probably work.

This looks like a great price and if I didn't hop on the Turbotax deal last night I'd did this as honestly both are going to produce the same results.

I do not understand why people who buy the deluxe version do not just use freetaxusa. Its free and as far as I can tell has all the forms as deluxe.
