Yes, both are upgradeable.

The RAM is a different standard/type than what you'd normally find so be wary of that

I've been using this laptop for 2 months now. It is awesome: perfect display, touchpad and keyboard, great speakers, great battery life (unlike my previous P1 Gen 5), has all ports I may ever need. It can be noisy sometimes but it feeds 80W to the CPU so that's natural.

The best all-arounder as of today for me.

This particular one just arguably needs a RAM upgrade which is not a big deal as LPCAMM2 modules are not too expensive anymore.

Seems like a decent laptop just avoid the ultra 9 model.

Mine is Ultra 9. I also tested Ultra 7 - they both do 80 W, keep the same frequency and temperature, and benchmarks show 2-4% advantage on Ultra 9 side.

Both processors allow 115 W turbo power in their specs, and Lenovo tries to use that on both of them. "Base power" difference (45 W vs 28 W) appears to be irrelevant.

Which one of the channels has best return policy? Thru Lenovo or eBay?

Can you provide context around the reasons to avoid the Ultra 9?

Upgrading LPCAMM2 modules isn't very cheap—you have to replace the entire module. A 32GB module from Crucial costs $174.99, and it's not always easy to get (currently out of stock).
It's a good deal, but not a great one. Lenovo Outlet had the same configuration with 32GB (21KWS00400) in mid-December for $1,285.79, with the $100 Amex cash offer available separately at that time. It sold out quickly.

I know the retail price Lenovo quotes is pie in the sky. Does anyone know the regular non-inflated price for this?

You are right. I checked ebay a month ago and there were many listings for LPCAMM2 RAM and the prices were slightly lower than Crucial's retail ones, and offers were available. Now--all gone.
