I know it's not on sale, but I very, very much enjoyed the audiobook version of this. Hearing Patrick Stewart read this in his own voice, with all the expression, was just amazing!

Getting the Kindle version because I liked it that much. Thanks for posting!

I decided to read this as a Star Trek fan. I didn't expect to enjoy it nearly as much as I did. Really enjoyable read.

For those that don't know, the audiobook is read by Patrick Stewart himself, and IMO makes it worth paying for.
Or listen to it on Audible.

Most libraries have ebook & audiobook versions of this. I'm a huge Trekkie, I enjoyed reading about Sir Patrick's upbringing, but lost interest midway and didn't finish it.

Funny you mention this as I also very much enjoyed his stories about his childhood, including his family. But I also lost interest about mid-way through and stopped listening for a while. Maybe it dragged a bit as he grew his stage career and he shared details about having won this part in this Shakespearean play, and that part in another. That's where I seem to recall losing some interest, myself.

I did jump back in eventually and things picked up (for me) again as he got to Hollywood and then into Trek, TNG and thereafter.

If you buy the audiobook do you have to subscribe to Audible to listen to it? I see Audible plans start at $7.95 a month.

Check your local library. Mine has the audiobook, although I'd need to rip the CD to listen to it.

On my University graduation day in Edinburgh I happened to be staying in the same hotel as Patrick (who was there for a film festival). I was waiting in the lobby with all my gear on and my dad asked if he'd mind being in a photo with us both. Don't think I've been as nervous in all my life, I grew up watching TNG. I don't think I managed to say anything to him other than thank you, but he was very kind and gracious.
