For what it's worth I got this last year for $1799 and I've been very happy with it
If you watch a lot of stuff on cable/satellite or other lower resolution stuff, I'd take this over a Hisense or TCL just for the better processing and upscaling. I feel like way too many people rely on rtings for specs, and not what they'd actually see in their own homes.

Is this a worthy upgrade from a Samsung UN75MU9000 75" I bought in 2018? The Samsung started developing bad banding. It's in a living room that gets alot of light. I already have a beast oled c3 83" in my movie room. Looking at a budget mini led.

In between the 75" version of this from Costco and the 75" Sony X93L for the same price ($1300) at Walmart. Which is the better deal?

My thoughts exactly......( I used to be in the electronic business)
People see Rtings as the Holy Bible of TV ratings. They have a unique method of rating TVs and deduct points from perfectly good TVs for lacking features that are not important to some of us just wanting a great picture.
eg...The OS not being snappy, not all HDMI inputs are 2.1 /120Hz, poor reflection, limited viewing angles, mediocre gaming features ( input lag, response time, performance in game mode,)

2016 Sony came out with one of the last large screen 1080p TVs: The Sony KDS W850C
Picture quality was just as good as upper level 4K TVs at the time but Rtings gave it a poor rating because it was NOT 4K.
The Picture quality was exactly the same as the 4K XBR-65X850C
It has limited viewing angles, more motion blur and input lag than average, screen reflected slightly more light than average, the TV being a bit thick and heavy.

Gotta get this outta the way too: This size of tv kinda falls on how immersive of an experience do you want it to be (it's almost too big)? If you're sitting 10' or under from this tv, you're going to see all kinds of artifacts on an upscaled image regardless of the brand of tv. The larger you go, the more the the minutia becomes visible and distracting. I'm about 8' from my X85K 75" with that "great Sony processing" that everyone loves to talk about and I see all kinds of stuff I didn't see on a 65" Sammy plasma it replaced from the same distance. These 4Ktvs just don't display a lower quality image all that well.
an X85K is not mini-led so there will be a difference between your TV and this one.

If you're willing to scale down to 77" and get an OLED in a similar price range, you'll be much happier in the long run.
Do you have a recommendation for the smaller OLED?

Mini-led does nothing for image processing whatsoever. Yes, you will get better contrast with FALD, but the processing of the image is all being done by the chip.

You could take the best chip on the market for image processing, throw it in a cheap tv and it would look decent. Conversely, you could take best, most responsive mini-led backlight and throw it in with a terrible chip and the picture would look horrible.

Real question: wouldn't an AppleTv etc. take care of the upscaling?
And rtings says it has horrible 480 upscaling. I get that their scoring priorities funny up the final rating, but I don't think this is one of them.
Seems like cable, 720p. etc. upscaling is much better.

But the viewing angles are outstanding for a better non oled.

I'll get this upcoming question out of the way: how does this compare to the Sammy 85" QN1XD deal from Mid December (and are probably still waiting ANOTHER month for delivery)? I'm one of those, but have moved on. And lolz, I think if you reordered now it's still a deal @ $1224 with EPP before any coupons, and 4-5 day delivery!!! I guess that's the real question, this LG, or eat some pride and reorder the Sammy?
I'm waiting another month for my Samsung to be delivered, but that's fine. It's like Samsung is putting the price of $945 on hold for me. It gives me time to look for an 83" OLED at around $1600. (Wishful thinking l know.)

I thought about ordering, and returning, a Sammy 85 (or 75 easier) from them every 2 weeks until original order arrived. . .but shifted my $$ and attention towards grabbing a QM8 or u8K bigger guys. The latter was slicker than the QNX1D deal, but I have not seen a single U8K of any size in person.
And no, I haven't cancelled, JIC.

I'm a fan of LG screens, but their Magic Remote is absolutely infuriating. You can't turn off the "cursor" mode, forcing you to use a different remote.

If anyone is confused: this is actually the Class 90T, (the 2024 model), which is different and much better than the Class 90 (2021 iirc). Costco has it mislabeled in the product title, and it led to a lot of confusion on my part when looking at specs.

TCL is waaaay better for the money than Samsung nowadays, and many say better than LG except for OLED. Not a laughingstock.

I disagree. My friend has a c3 oled and I have a hisense u8 mini led. While the oled does have a sharper image and better blacks, the dimness of it is awful in a room with windows. The brightness and green levels on the mini led is a game changer especially in hdr. The biggest negative of the hisense and tcl is their processors are so far behind LG and sony.
