Very short game, I'd recommend waiting for lower pricing

Amazing game, absolutely worth the $....

However...

It's been available at local libraries for free to rent. Can easily beat in a week or two

I rented on PS5 in the Philadelphia area at my local library

This game came out in 2022. It's not new, even if Nintendo is slow with ports due to lower specs.
Please don't play dumb. You know exactly what I am saying. And if you don't, wikipedia exists.

I played the PC version, forgotten about it, and went back into it for the Switch. It's pretty surprising how good the graphics are for a switch game. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it was a short game.

Great game. More companies need to focus on quality games that doesn't just drain you of time and energy. More gamers need to get out of the boomer mindset of games MUST have 100000000 hours of boring content and chores to be worth it.
Boomer?!
a: Boomers didn't really have games (ok... maybe atari 2600)
b: Back in my day (Nintendo/SNES/Genesis) we didn't have the grind. It was just great game until the finish)
c: Didn't the "grind" literally start like 10 years ago? Or when cell phones got BS grind "free" games? Or maybe when they started to include mmorpg grind into single player games?
However I do agree with you on Stray. Such a great great game. I was lucky to start and finish it before it was pulled from PS+

I'm always recommending this. Especially short games.

Just to clarify, Nintendo doesn't port other people's games for them.

Haha relax, I didn't expect pedantry on the internet in a deals forum, let's get the context right.

Also arguably, the culture of game reviewers and such starting to count hours and wanting long games with tons of hours of collection chores and open-world nothingness (essentially insisting that's the standard of a good game and brainwashing all the younger gens reading gaming magazines and later online magazines like ign) started during the N64 days (we can also go into history saying arguably this mindset was created when they grew up being able to afford one Nintendo game at a time, which they'd have to play for hours, days, months, even years before their next cartridge). The grind started a long time ago and it's been downhill (uphill?) from there.

So if we want to get more specific, I suppose we can blame the gen-xers who were working in the industry at the time.

But then arguably we can say their bosses were boomers. Therefore, boomers are at fault yet again!

If the game came out on multiple platforms 3 years ago, it's not a new game. It was $30 when released 3 years ago. It's now usually $15 or so. Wikipedia exists, maybe you should also give it a look.

Do you define all switch ports this way? Do you think all Virtual Console games are new by this silly metric? Do you pay $60 for a "new" Nintendo port of their own 10 year old game? If so, you are part of the reason Nintendo keeps their prices high.

You might want to question who is "playing dumb".

Nintendo doesn't create 3rd party ports, but they do have a long internal review process for 3rd party games like ports. That combined with the weak hardware makes publishers hesitant to bring games to Switch since it takes a lot of work for them to modify their games, instead just keeping on XBOX, PS5, Steam, etc.

In all seriousness, do you really think Nintendo sets the price for another developer's games? It's rare for any publisher to offer a ported game at a substantial discount, even if the game has been out a while. Spider-Man, FF7, The Last of Us, etc. all were full price for the PC when released. Same thing with consoles. The price tends to go down soon after launch, but not in two months (unless it's Ubisoft).

Edit: I'm adding this because I honestly have no idea what the point is that you're trying to make and it takes too long to wait for a reply. Nintendo doesn't set the price and isn't in charge of the port, so I'm not sure what you are upset at. Plenty of games have a staggered release for different consoles or a long wait for a port, so it's not unique here. Your biggest complaint seems to be that the game isn't cheap enough when this version of the game was released in November of 2024 and is currently cheaper than the PS, XBox and Steam versions. I think you are just arguing because you don't like Nintendo, which is fine, but don't act like this game being at this price has everything to do with them.

Are you borrowing physical discs from your libraries or is this some sort of Libby type system for video games?
