I'll also say that you really only need a driver, midrange and putter to start with. If it's a smaller par 3 course then go with just a mid and putter Smilie I wouldn't recommend getting the gallery - you want bright colors especially if you're new (avoid green) to not lose your disc. Always watch where it lands - once I spent 15 minutes looking for my disc lol.

The UDisc app is great for finding courses and check facebook for disc golf groups if you ever have questions or are looking for a group to play with. Generally, disc golfers are a laid back bunch.

Interested in the Gallery Fire Buzzz but those reviews on Amazon are rough. Artwork looks like it wears quickly.

If you have a shop close, go grab a couple used mids and drivers. The buzzz is a great mid, but you can get used in the 5-8 dollar range. If you don't mind the extra couple bucks 11-12 is a good price. There are different plastics and whatnot, but I wouldn't go crazy spending money til you decide you like it. The cheap plastics are fine for beginners. Shoot, I still use some of my cheaper plastics. Look for different variety on fades and turns. There are plenty of websites out there that show what the flight path should look like on each disc. Also, innova website has factory seconds for great prices. And they have Friday f2s where you can get a free disc. That's where I've bought most of my discs.

I know there is one course nearby, but I will check that out. Good to know I only need 2-3 discs to start.

Yup! It's not a very expensive hobby. There are some water holes you'll find around lakes but I generally keep a wide distance and just take an extra throw to not risk my disc (disc golf discs sink).

I usually carry ~5 discs (two drivers, two putters, one mid) so that way I can take a second shot if I'm alone/not holding anyone up and use a bag similar to this one.

I will also agree with the other person above who mentioned going to your local disc golf place if you have one and buying second hand discs - there's no difference to them unless they've hit a lot of trees and the location might have those for free or just trash them lol. I know many (all?) play it again sports stores have disc golf sections as well.

I agree with other posters... I haven't played in years, and then years before that. I've never thought "If I had a better disc that would have gone well." The expensive discs are for the players trying to get 5% better results. Get a cheap set of 3-4 discs (sometimes a "long-range" putter helped me), but you'll need a driver and mid-range. See if you like it before spending good money. Have fun!

Every disc I have flys a little different. Get plenty because you WILL lose some in thick woods or water. Its a fun way to do low impact exercise - especially with "gummies." You do need to throw hard vs regular golf where you rely more on mechanics, so shoulder issues can limit your involvement, but its essentially free. I will say that bright "non natural" colors are easier to find in the brush - this mid range may be hard to spot but Im getting one...
