Here is the thread for the same computer from last year's black friday deal. I think every question asked will be on this thread, go nuts.

This or Alienware R16 4070 ti super or ibuypower 7900xt?
I have the Alienware R16 4070 ti super. It has been an amazing machine that is extremely quiet. Now that intel has released an update to the chip issue I would not worry about getting an intel chip. People will say stick with the AMD chip but they are focusing on what happened in the past. I have monitored the temperatures on the chip during extensive gaming and there hasn't been any signs of overheating. It has been a fantastic machine that I would buy again. Especially if you can find a cash back site from Dell. Recently one had 15% cash back which makes buying the Alienware all the better.

Reviews say the PC is quite loud. Anyone have recommendations on a quieter pc? Ok to sacrifice a little bit of specs
I bought this for Black Friday at Costco. They must have updated the fan software. It's silent. My son uses this for gaming and you can barely hear the fans.
I process digital evidence for work and I wish my forensic machine was this quiet.

This is some new age LTT YouTuber type of mindset that I don't agree with.

Processors run hot. Much like a combustion engine, that's literally how they function.

Relatively speaking, some processors expend more energy than others, but as long as it's within tolerance, it's doing what it's designed to do.

You can speak to preference when it comes to things like noise, but there's nothing technically wrong with this system. It's not an HP, where poor thermal design choices cause thermal throttling. If you want a more power efficient system, don't buy a processor that's one step down from what they use in high end workstations and servers.

If purchasing at MSRP, maybe the water cooling would be justifiable for what it cost. But when it's on sale? Not so much. You're almost getting these components at cost. If you want liquid cooling, add it.

Also, as far as fans go, the bearings are rated for a runtime at a constant speed. You're actually wearing them out faster when you have a fan curve applied and they're regularly changing velocity. This is one reason a lot of servers don't bother with PWM fans.
Fair enough—to each their own. I don't know what LTT is.

I don't have any issues with the processor or its heat. I just don't like the build. And judging by the reviews on this PC (3.6 stars), it sounds like purchasers are also dissatisfied with the result. Even many of the 4- and 5-star reviews complain about the noise. Therefore, despite it technically running just fine, it's been built in a manner that consumers don't like.

I haven't personally bought any iBuyPOWER builds, in part because some of the components (like their fans) have been reported to die sooner than they should. I guess if you want to replace the fans with some decent ones, you could avoid that altogether. Then you just have to deal with how loud it is. If you find the dull roar of a jet engine taking off while editing videos or rendering complex CAD drawings to be relaxing, I guess then it would be a win-win.

That having been said, comment above hasn't had any noise issues.

To be fair, most of those reviewers simply don't need or shouldn't own an i9 when an i7 or even an i5 would suffice.

But complaining about noise or heat on what's currently one of the fastest consumer grade processors just shows ignorance on their part (something the YouTube channel LTT seems to be causing).

It's like buying a Mustang and saying "boy, I wish it ran like a Prius".

As for the fans, it's very possible they're wearing out prematurely because of the fan curve. If they ran at full speed all the time, they'd probably last longer. And I'm not sure why they couldn't, since most of these people probably game with headphones anyway.

I just bought it. It's not as loud as people say. Great price for the specs.

Wondering which headset with mic would work best with this. We bought on Wednesday and bluetooth doesn't connect nicely or mic sounds bad.

Would this work well as an office PC when I have generally dozens of files and spreadsheets open at the same time?
It's overkill really, but it will do the job. I'd probably recommend against it unless you might also do some gaming or video editing. Get a smaller, quieter PC with a i7/9 or Ryzen 7/9, integrated graphics and 32-64GB ram and save yourself $500+

Same, mine came with the ASUS board and out of the box with just updates and no settings changes it is very quiet for normal use. The fans do ramp up with heavy use, but not louder than what I would expect.

I bought the black friday deal. The fans were rather loud out of the box. I've tuned the fans through the BIOS to a manageable solution. Will probably be looking into an AIO for the future.

I recently went with this, as I'm a fan on corded headsets for gaming. It's not expensive and works perfectly.

I am on the fence about this but the lack of liquid cooling really makes me hesitate
