These are Makita tools for the price of an off-brand from Temu. Please.
I think you're misconstruing my comment.

It's not a knock on Makita. I'm a fan of Makita and would prefer them, but I'm weighing my
options between trying to keep a stronger 40v setup (Ryobi batteries, blower, trimmer and lawn mower I have all lasted around 6-7 years) vs tossing it for a weaker Makita 18v setup.

Although anecdotal experience, the other slickdealer convinced me that the 18v is weak enough not to pursue it.

Brand doesn't matter as much at this point. Trying to keep my money as efficient as possible .

If I can just buy batteries to keep my setup going instead of going down in performance, that's a win.

Thanks for the insight, the 40v batteries are rarely on sale, been trying to hold on to my Ryobis as long as i can lmao
You can't compare a 40 to an 18. Bad math. He should know better.

I have this exact set for a 65 acre property. The leaf blower is okay, definitely pick up a cheap "makita blower nozzle attachment" from Amazon to make it work better for big giant maple leaves like we have up here in the PNW. The string trimmer is surprisingly good for its weight and size. I have a massive commercial trimmer for black berries, but find this string trimmer to be more than adequate for cleaning up the grass around the house, well head, chicken coop, etc. Also, it's fast to reload!

Thanks OP for posting, just grabbed a set for my "city home." I've been using a greenworks set and it is crap compared to this.

For those in Seattle, Bellevue had 2 sets left up on the shelf above where they have display models. They're labeled $180 but rang up as $144.

Addendum - I'm the one with both the Makita and Ryobi whisper.

For the Makita I also have the blower tip. FYI it's two extra pieces you need to buy, the tip and the adapter to go from the blower to the tip. It does help to concentrate the air.

Still think it's a good deal for those in the Makita ecosystem looking to get these

And like the other SDer I replied to, I too am in the 40v system for the yard tools, mower, blower, chainsaw, pole saw, tiller, which have all been much more affordable and powerful than the current Makita options. And at the end of the day, I'd still pick my Ryobi over the Makita for the reasons I listed before, power and quietness, and it's another ecosystem I'm already invested in

I mean you were the one with the offhand comment about Temu? Sounded like you were defending the Makita 18v over a 40v Ryobi battery that would keep my setup going.

Not sure if you're trying to troll me, but have a good day.

I have used their trimmers before. Works great, imho. Why don't you like yours?
Its basically a gas weed wacker with a battery. Not bad for horizontal work but it is ackward to use when using as an edger (vertical). Most of my trimming is vertical and I find my Craftman (a cordless clone of my old Black and Decker trimmer) much more agile to use - its shorter and lighter. Plus the heads are easier to respool than the Makita. **The Makita had a nasty tendancy of the head flying off while stopping - had to really wrench it on to prevent that thing from flying away.

I was like, 650mph?? that is insane for a blower. Check it up online and it is 650 cfm, which makes lot of sense

Quote from darkfalcon7 :
Have both. Makita fan here and actually had the Makita blower first then got the Ryobi 40v. Got the Ryobi Whisper 650mph first, then sold that and got the 730mph version. Both versions them are far better than the Makita in both power and CFM volume as well as loudness (rather quietness). They did a really great job with it being true to the Whisper name, it's a significantly notable difference in how much quieter it is, even in turbo mode.

But in volume and cfm, I'm able to blow wet leaves no problem. Just need to have enough batteries to sustain it, so I've picked them up with other 40V tool/battery BOGO deals, DTO, and Facebook marketplace.

That said, for battery life, the makita can get about 15-30 min on a 5ah and the Ryobi get about 10-20 min on a 40v 4ah, both depending on how much you're running the blower.

Personally I'd keep the Ryobi, having the CFMs to be able to blow clumped wet leaf piles is nice, and my ears thank me too.

But for someone who doesn't have either of these tools and is on the Makita platform, this is a good deal. The older combo of this is what I got. String trimmer battery life lasts forever and is light and comfortable to use. The blower works well and has a variable speed and a constant speed setting so you don't have to hold the trigger when doing low speed dust cleanup.

Good deal, worked for me. The price marked at the store was still $180, but an associate scanned it and confirmed the $144 price was accurate. They had 9 in my local store in South Richmond, VA.

Not quite as good, but they also had the two 4ah Lithium-Ion batteries with charger kits on sale from $200 down to $160.

My HD has the 2-battery set on for $140.
