No, I once complained to a GameStop salesperson about this. She said it was a brand-new, opened game, even though the box was all scratched. She insisted it was fine because the game itself was new.

completely not worth it unless you have kids who love pokemon cards or something like that, the stores are terrible for actual games they just sell plastic junk now.
