- No, these do not count towards your spend requirements for a premier membership.
- No, these do not earn you any Staples rewards.

- Yes, you can split payment between multiple cards (if your cashier permits it) YMMV

IMO, these cards have gotten much harder to use, depending on the type. I think these are blackhawk and not vanilla, so that's a plus

not sure but i think some cards/banks count a purchase of these as a cash advance.

No, the purpose is buying them without the fees they normally have with a points earning credit card so you essentially have the same money, but you've earned rewards points for it.

For example, I have the the Chase Freedom Unlimited, which gets me 1.5% back on everything. I also have the Chase Ink Cash, which gets 5% back from Staples. So, I need to buy something. Normally I'd use the the Chase Freedom Unlimited and earn for example 150 points on a 100 purchase. If I buy a gift card with the Chase Ink then use that to complete the same $100 purchase, I'm earning 500 points instead. I'm just taking an extra step to earn some more points.

Yea as an example used to be you could add it to PayPal but last time I did it, visa or whoever runs these cards flagged it as fraud and disabled the cards. Had to call customer support to reissue new cards.

Never heard of that happening. Unless a CC issuer is getting "level 3" data (very few do), they don't know what you're buying from a merchant. You could be buying $200 in pencils for all they know.

Good to know thanks. I never experienced it myself but it was something I had read.

Just a warning there is a new scam where they open the pack swap cards and reseal the pack leaving you with a dummy card and when activated they get your money so inspect the pack well.

Research Results = No, the money on a Staples Visa gift card does not expire. However, the card itself may expire. If your card expires, you can call customer service to get a replacement card for free.

I think I will start using these when I'm on islands like Jamacia rather than my real card.

I think you can only use these gift cards domestically (U.S.), NOT for abroad.
