- Why is this a deal? Some members have CC's that earn 5% CB at office supply stores (INK and Amex Simply Cash). Others need to meet minimum CC spend.

For example, I have the the Chase Freedom Unlimited, which gets me 1.5% back on everything. I also have the Chase Ink Cash, which gets 5% back from Staples. So, I need to buy something. Normally I'd use the the Chase Freedom Unlimited and earn for example 150 points on a 100 purchase. If I buy a gift card with the Chase Ink then use that to complete the same $100 purchase, I'm earning 500 points instead. I'm just taking an extra step to earn some more points.
Yea as an example used to be you could add it to PayPal but last time I did it, visa or whoever runs these cards flagged it as fraud and disabled the cards. Had to call customer support to reissue new cards.

Never heard of that happening. Unless a CC issuer is getting "level 3" data (very few do), they don't know what you're buying from a merchant. You could be buying $200 in pencils for all they know.

Good to know thanks. I never experienced it myself but it was something I had read.
I think I will start using these when I'm on islands like Jamacia rather than my real card.
