If you need a drill + driver set, this is an excellent one to get started with. DCD805 is probably the best DeWalt drill out there for DIY/homeowner use and DCF850 is extremely compact and quite powerful. 4Ah batteries probably aren't the greatest, but at this price point, they'll do the job.

Just pick this up with the extra tool and wanted the router so it actually worked out well. I'm happy with the set as my 10-year-old dewalt drill started to lose torque and I tried to fix it but it's cooked. So now I've got an extra driver which is fine because there's definitely some dirty muddy situations where I wouldn't want to use my new one and get splattered concrete or something else all over it. It's shorter than my last one which is nice for tight spots

I am all for good deals but there is a certain element of dishonesty with this "hack" that doesn't seem honorable ... is anyone out there feeling the same? 😊

I would rest easy. Home Depot has been the home of this "deal" for years. If they thought it was dishonest or they were losing money doesn't it stand to reason they would close the "hack"? There has to be hundreds of thousands of purchases from home Depot using this method so it's not slipping by the accounting department.

Good point. If this is not their first go around then they are aware of the "hack" then ... 😄

I bought the DCD1007 kit with free battery and I was going to return the battery. However I got an email saying the was an inventory issue and they had canceled part of my order. But they delivered just the drill kit at the hacked price! I think DeWalt gives them the bundles with the add on gift at at split price so they sell it the same way. It a deal from DeWalt just for Home Depot. I think this deal is over as well or we spoke to soon its shower the kit with the two batteries as one item so I wondering if you can still return just the batteries!

Ha! No.

Trust me no one is losing any money with these "hacks" except the people that buy them. The retailer and Dewalt have plenty of margin.
