Asus ProArt 5k is $799 and objectively a better choice overall. The Studio Display has a terrible stand, is 60hz, no DP/HDMI, no HDR, not OLED and really not that great if you know anything about displays. $1300 for this monitor is still very overpriced for what it is and there are much better options if you want to spend that much.
I am deep in the Apple ecosystem, am a professional photographer (use iPad/Mac/iPhone for work) and still know this is an overhyped monitor. It has pretty bad reviews overall as a result
It's also odd that it's a better deal to just buy an entire iMac for the 4.5k screen for $1200 instead of this MONITOR with 5k for $1300-1600. They are almost indistinguishable screens and its such a strange pricing structure on Apple's part. This should be an $800 monitor at most
I have 2 of these, both bought for this price at different points in time. Don't make the same mistake that I did with the first one: buy the VESA version!!!

Good price if you are thinking about picking up this monitor. Hardly get a better deal than this. It's the best in class at this price. Made for all Apple products.

Agreed - if you're already in the Mac ecosystem and looking for a monitor, it's hard to beat the simplicity of this display, speaker, and camera combination.

Is there a specific VESA stand that you recommend for these monitors? Thanks!
Amazon has the Apple Studio Display 27" on sale for $300 off retail at $1,299 (normally $1,599). Both the tilt adjustable stand and VESA compatible versions are available at this price.
The tilt and height adjustable stand is also on sale for $1,599 (normally $1,999).
Got the one with the adjustable height for a few hundred more last year. If you do video or graphic work, then you really don't need those Spyder color calibration contraptions that you put on your monitor similar to some alien creature sucking on your face. Out of box, the color is near perfect.

That's a solid price for the VESA-mount if you have a monitor arm or dual monitor arm.
But that LG 32" 6K monitor is yet to be sold after they announced it. If LG is selling their 32" at about $2k-$2.5k, I'd rather get that over this 27" 5K monitor. Might just wait for the LG before getting another one of these.
