The Nakamichi brand is now bottom of the line junk rather than the top of the line audio equipment of yesteryear.

The brand was sold to Grande Holdings of China which did the same number on Akai and Sansui which were quality brands under Japanese ownership.
They are taking the whole car now.
remember the days thieves would break in cars to steal car radios ? Thank God they are not doing that anymore !

If its certain year model trucks they can do it in 2-5 minutes flat. You essentially have no security depending on what truck you bought if you don't have someone install an aftermarket kill switch.

Lets not forget the Hyundai/Kia fiasco that's still going on now. Although not nearly as bad as it was last year.

hahaha, I had my fair share of expensive stereos stolen. It hurt when top-of-the-line Alpine was stolen.

Finding double din Car Play/Auto head units at this price point isn't hard but this one seems like a better deal than most because it has a built in DVD/CD player.
I installed a similar and also very cheap Car Play head unit in my daughter's old RAV4 and it's working great for her. My biggest gripe with it is that it doesn't have auto dimming for the screen so you have to set it so that it's not very bright during the day to keep from blinding you at night.

so sorry. I had a 79 Trans Am in which they broke in and stole stereo out of it, ripping part of the dashboard plastic and leaving gaping hole there. I had not replaced the stereo...

Bought it for $60 a bit ago. It's honestly great, connects super quickly and reliably. You can't go wrong at these prices as long as your car can fit it.

Pretty sure it does auto dim when headlights are on. I got one during black Friday for $40. It's much better than the POS boss where the touch input failed after a few months. This has carplay, feels pretty solidly built and going strong so far

Couple things with this , One it has a CD player, 2) it has a 10 band equalizer, 3) it has a rear usb port so you can connect and hide a wireless Android auto or Apple car play device (not included) instead of having it sticking out the front of the unit or having to connect via a USB cable.

Bought a similar model (no dvd/cd) for my daughter's car and has been great. Viewing screen is pretty good with very little glare so if this is model is similar might buy to replace the one in my truck with poor viewing screen.
