It has the convenient "steal me first" logo on the front.

This is a rather small 40L bag. Think under the seat for free on an Allegiant or Frontier airlines for a 3 day trip. Can't believe these are $100 - on sale - for such a small bag with limited features. Also the thick material on these prevents packability when not in use.

I bought the 55L versions of these for my kids 2017-2018 pre-Covid for $65. We've traveled the world with them. I prefer the Cotapaxi and Mountain Hardwear versions of these 55L duffels though. Other brands have more+better internal features, external convenience and multiple carry features, and durable material and waterproofing without being so stiff.

My teenage girls like them because of the Patagonia name printed on them.

Patagonia is like the Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch when I was a kid. If you are really an outdoors person they do make good gear, most buyers aren't not is my guess.

That's as fun to say as "bundlerooski" or "bundlearoooooooski". Thanks Andy

My only complaint with these bags is that the entire thing is PU coated except the bottom. Whats the point of having a waterproof top and sides if the bottom if cloth.. any wet environment (rain, snow, etc) is going to result in wet stuff..

I use a big 75L for a ski bags to carry helmets, gloves, water, etc and at the end of the day you have to be careful where you place the bag to avoid puddles/wet carpet in the lodge.

Much prefer my arcteryx duffle as the whole thing is weatherproof.

I've had it for some 15 years and i got it on proform so probably, but not a purchase you can currently recreate. That said, 100 bucks for a duffle bag is not a slick deal regardless. The 40L new version of the Carrier is 240 but will go on sale occasionally at closer to 150-175.

I been looking for a carryon sized backpack for travel and this seems to be recommended a lot. I just don't get the benefit of it being a duffle. Why would you every carry something so big over one shoulder vs two. I understand it can also be used as a backpack but does being a hybrid make it a worse backpack?

I have this and it's great. But as others have said, while it wears as a backpack if you want it to, usually people's "personal item" is a backpack so if you're also taking that, you would have to lug this around as a duffel bag (as it has no wheels). For this reason, I keep this as a vacation bag when flights aren't required, and have an actual 4 wheel carry on as it's easier to use in the airport.

Great bag though!

i have 4 different types of large duffels, used for boat-> island camping. this is the only one that leaks through the bottom. don't set on wet ground or in a puddle. otherwise, decent enough, though 2x what you should pay (except for the fashion aspect).
