I've seen some people prefer 2x 16gb over 1x 32gb. Can someone tell me why that would be better or does that just matter based on device like laptop with single slot vs Desktop with several?

Below is a good explanation. Dual channel RAM provides significantly better performance compared to single channel RAM by allowing the CPU to access data from two memory modules simultaneously, effectively doubling the memory bandwidth, while single channel RAM only uses one channel, resulting in slower data transfer speeds.

Short term upgradism.
Systems that use memory like this tend to be stock oem, and will run slower speeds at 4 dimms, so its best to buy max capacity 2 dimm. That being said I use 4x of these and am fine with the performance, very stable.

Ah, thank you! That thread was interesting and it helps to kinda see everything laid out from a couple perspectives.
This is pretty slow ram for the price. I've seen 2 x 32GB ram sticks that go for around $155~$160 that are much faster even when not on sale. I can provide the amazon link to them to prove this is just an average deal at best.

Yup. For a few dollars more 6000Mhz can be had ($80-$100).
This really just looks like another affiliate ad from SD.
