I bought the 83" G3 a few weeks back at $3500. At the time, the C4 was running $3,400 - $3,800, and the Samsung 90 was about the same. The G3 is a little better than the C4 from what I could find, and has the 5yr panel warranty, so I went with it.

The G4 is of course, significantly better than both, but at the time its price was holding steady around $4500. My room is completely light controlled and I tend to upgrade fairly often, so I couldn't justify the extra cost, $3,500 was already borderline absurd to me.

Things have changed a lot in those few weeks, as the C4 is commonly available around $3,200, and the Samsung 90 has been down to $2,500. If those prices were in place at my time of purchase I probably would have rolled the dice on the Samsung and a crappy squaretrade type warranty. C4 at $3,200 vs. G3 at $3,400, I'd still do G3 again.

A BB open box G4 at $3k would have been great, but that's not exactly a common option for everybody, and the BB warranty I'd want on an open box is quite expensive, though it is a good warranty. Overall, G4 prices have been too sticky.

In the end all I can say is the G3 looks great, and the market on 83" sets is a mess. I think you're gonna have to deal with seeing better deals no matter what, as they're still a high-end item with a ton of price changes.

Guys the vastly superior 83" G4 is still on sale at Brandsmart (search earlier thread) AND you can price match to Best Buy…for just an extra $300. Just did it myself this morning. No brainer for me over this deal.

Yes, no MLA on the G3 for 83". Only one with it in that size that year was the M3, and 2024 both the M4 and G4. But this thread is about the 83" G3, and I think you guys are missing the intended audience. . .those looking for a bump up from C series for not that much more (i.e. current C series vs. previous G). That open box G4 also fits the bill obviously well, but with some risk which is fine. . . but keeping in a price range is the leading factor here for comparison, which is why the G3>>G4 for $4k delivered from Brandsmart is out for this purpose even though the best new G4 deal currently.

No point in price comparing G3 Vs.G4 if only one has what you want, right?

I wasn't ever considering a G4 in this size. Just cost. And I just got the 98QM8 so that took a bite out of my fun money to boot. Got bright room covered is an understatement. Now looking for an OLED to complement the LED, not the opposite. And do consider G3 an upgrade over C4 in some ways. And gladly trade the 144Hz gamer for ATSC 3.0 tuner. Glad I can have both on the QM8, because at that size, it's much more than a game changer, it's a new sport.
That's not correct. C series is 2700 at the right stores and slightly higher at GT not too long ago. C4 uses the same panel as this g3. No reason to spend extra money. I agree on atsc tuner

They brought that C3>C4 back at Brandsmart not just in store? $2700 Wow that would be the sweet spot for me as able to PM that at BB which I'll take over the tax savings.

It's a learning process as I go. I have evidently stepped back into BB's realm lately enough to justify the TT membership already so should probably stay on that path for the near future when able. Took me awhile, they stiffed me on a lost Sonos Move last year still ticks me off

I have a 77" G3. The ATSC 3.0 tuner is one of the few things the 83" G3 has over a C4, but is nearly worthless in my experience. There are so few stations in my metro that use it and it takes forever to get a signal lock, often any station broadcasting in Dolby Vision will just say scrambled until I do a dance of changing between channels multiple times until I get a clean picture. My wife won't even watch the NextGen channels, and honestly the only reason I bother is because I paid for the feature and damned if I don't use it, despite the picture being only the slightest bit clearer (1080p instead of i or 720p). This isn't an isolated bug, multiple people have reported the same on AVSforum.

If I were in the market for a 83", and C4 were about the same price as this G3, I would get the C4.

What 8K TV do you have and what sources do you use for 8k media?

I currently have a Sony X900H 75" inch. Looking to upgrade to a 77" OLED. Main use will be PS Pro gaming and 4K Blu-ray watching. I sit about 10' from the screen.

Narrowed it down to either a Sony A95L or LG G4 (Samsung is a no go, as I want Dolby Vision support).

I initially offered $2499 on a 77" LG G4. Got a counter offer of $2899 (includes tax/shipping) at Greentoe. Do I accept it or try to counter again? What's the best price anyone got on this at Greentoe?
