It actually reaches advertises speed, But it can get hot if you don't have sufficient cooling in your laptop. I got a cheap copper heat sink and it's cool and zippy!
Yes, it fits in ROG Ally natively. But 2280 NVMe will fit in ROG Ally if you get the 90 degree adapter for around $10 and clip one plastic standoff; lots of instructional videos on YouTube.

I recommend using 2280 because you can use higher capacity drives like 4TB or 8TB, the $/TB is better, and thermal performance is often better.
