Does this version have the pump constantly run even when ur not spraying? Or does it only pump when you pull the trigger? Because I wanted to buy the back pack sprayer but I read that the back pack sprayer had the pump constantly run even while not spraying

Yes, it continues to run. Btw, the 4 gal does not run all of the time. It will run to pressurize and then stops.

I was looking at these two but went with the 4 gal because you can adjust the pressure and you can swap out the tips which is a HUGE reason why I went with the 4 gal. I find it more consistent laying down herbicide and pesticide with it versus a cone fan.

Almost pulled the trigger... Then I watched a review where the guy was showing it in positive light, but the constant running of the motor seems super annoying. That and the plethora of issues that people have had with these I think I'm going to wait for the full backpack 4 gallon to go on sale.

While I like the idea of these sprayers, I have to give caution. In my experience, they're unreliable.
The first one I had broke after a half dozen uses (over ~6 months span). It stopped spraying due to the pump failing. After fighting a bit with Ryobi, they sent me a replacement unit. I've used the replacement 3 times, and I'm already having issues with intermittent spraying. On top of this, the caps are garbage. The bottoms break/disolve apart and they're no longer usable. I had this happen to 2 caps, one of which I never used to measure chemicals. I wound up buying an oatey gripper plug.
Compare this to my old manual pump sprayers that are several years old and just keep working.
