Just moved to Spokane a few months back. From experience up here near Canada, I've concluded that coats without hoods are just too cold no matter how great the hat is. When the wind blows + cold temps, a hood is a must imo. Big fan of down and the brand but must have a hood for serious cold weather gear.

Yes, a hood is nice, but it looks sharper without a hood, and a beanie does just fine. I have this and it looks sharp and is super warm and lightweight. Got it at the same price at the end of last season.

It's still a deal, but the earlier front page deals were hooded versions tho, with several more colors (none good enough to buy for me).

Why? I've discovered the joy of a simple hoodie under this jacket. And/or a wool hat.

Ordered one of these last week, it is lightweight and quite warm. I drove to an outlet today to return a Columbia jacket I just bought last month because this one is so nice.

And I got it without the hood. The hood looks quite tacky.

I had the hooded version of this jacket from an REI sale, but I had to return it. It was losing all its stuffing. Not just the normal amount of down coming out, but an endless stream of feathers and poly like a clown pulling out a handkerchief. I was going to exchange it for the same thing, but a lot of the reviews on the REI site had the same issue. I think it was 3.6 stars or something. I went with a nano puff instead. It's not as thick or warm, but it doesn't have the same issue.

Ask Backcountry for a price match and get extra 5% off. Amex also has $20 off $100+ offer YMMV.

Hmm, I have this with and without hood. I prefer the one with the hood mainly when snow shoveling or being active during a snowy day since without the hood the snow slips in through the neck and that is very annoying.

This is by far the best winter jacket I have had (I have had over 20). The second closest would be one from mountain Warehouse with vents for when you are too hot.

How's the fit on these? I know the Cotopaxi down jackets run crazy small in the arms.

I have the hooded version and non hooded. The non hooded works better when you don't actually the hood, which is not often. It's not water proof so you can't use it in rain anyway.

Looks like a nice jacket, how are the sizes on these? I ordered a similar style from Columbia in large (I'm about 6 foot, 200) and it was shockingly huge/baggy
