While I had this MacBook and it is a very capable machine, it is a 3 generations old used laptop. I don't think it is a very good deal.

For another $100, I think a new Macbook air w/ newer M3 is a better buy

M3 MBA starts at $1100?
M2 MBA starts at $1000, and this is a way better buy since it has an actually usable amount of storage and RAM.

Best Buy has the M3 MBA with 16 GB RAM for $899. It only has 256GB storage though.

Note that this is M1 Pro (not sure if that makes this a decent deal - probably not)

Apple MacBooks in the used and refurbished market defies all logic. I've seen so many of the m1 series used going for 100$ less than original asking price that it's just a complete joke. I think most Apple owners live in la la land.

This should be $500 considering you can get a new m3 for a hundred more. Are they going off the original retail price 4 years ago?
You do know that an Air and a Pro have many more differences than just which CPU they have, right? If you're going to compare prices, compare to something with the same features.

I wouldn't. 99 percent of the used Apple Silicon laptops I look at, people barely use the damn things (Maybe that's why they sold them to whatever company that is reselling them) so there's barely any cycles on the battery. Also battery life is way longer than any comparable PC laptop which means less cycles on the battery than your typical PC laptop.

These have the M1 Pro chip and not the M1 chip that came out in 2020. This model came out in November 2021 so it's actually 3 years and 4 months old.
