Loved these books as a kid. Book 1 can be slightly problematic now (hey it was written in the 60s), but the rest of the series is amazing.

That's funny, I remember liking the FIRST one and not the others after they lost all their tech. Read it 30 years ago now, damnit I'm old.

These are the first published books and the ones the majority of people will tell you to start with. Dragonsdawn is the first chronologically. This is a series that covers thousands of years but if I remember right for the series sticks to 3 or 4 time periods.
