These have a habit of losing the ability to stop charging via their solar panel.

I have two of these. One in the front with 3/4 sunlight during the day, one in the back with 1/2 day of full sun. During the summer I never have to worry about a charge. In the winter I have to take them down and charge via usb maybe once from December to April. Charging only takes a few hours. I was sure to mount them in a place where I could use a regular chair to reach them.

I live in Boston for weather reference.

I would recommend these. No issues after 18-24 months of ownership.

Be careful with this. Costco only has a 90 day warranty for cameras. I found this out the hard way when I purchased a drone from them that was defective and they pointed me to the camera policy.
I'm pretty positive this is not correct. I've returned multiple year old Arlo cameras that stop working with no hassle from Costco.

Probably some interpretation could be made if this applies to security cameras/systems in general. But it is definitely in writing.

I bought this and cancelled because the S220 are cheaper on Amazon. The difference being the S230 has a light and I don't need it for where I'm mounting. Battery on the S230 has a bit more capacity.

I almost bit on the S220, because they've been on a great deal lately. Certainly much cheaper than the S230. I ended up going for the S230, though, because I have one area that really needs the light.

Well. If that happens you can take them back to Costco.

Was planning to get S220 but wanted S230 for the spotlight and this deal popped up. Ordered one.

Eufy Cameras have several security flaws where people could remove the cameras from your system: https://youtu.be/M4QRwpy84tA?si=Bnw344KG5kenAtpz

I know these are solar powered which means they cannot record 24/7.
Is there a option to connect to electric power source so that the camera can record continuously (24/7) ?

No, you can use it as is with your smartphone and the app. It includes 8GB of internal local storage that will erase older videos when full. However, if you add a hub you will get enhanced features, like additional storage separate from the camera, more AI functions to recognize family members, and geofencing to turn a camera on or off automatically when you leave or return home.

Just to add to the other reply you received, any eufy cam with Solo in the name does not require the homebase.

Charging takes forever (at least in the winter). The cameras did not catch any motion, no matter how I set them. I returned them and got Arlo pro 5s set. I still have original pro that I got in Costco in 2018, still working great, including batteries. New ones connected to the old hub and don't need the subscription.
