The Mx4200 has the best radios and processor out of these. It is also supported by OpenWRT.
The stock firmware has not been updated for years and is pretty limited. To bypass it asking you to use the app rather than the web interface, when you go to the router's web interface click on the picture of the phone on the nag screen. Then you'll get a login in screen. After you login you can set stuff up. Clicking on CA in the bottom links gives you more settings.
Each node is model MX4200. Combine two nodes in the same box and Linksys calls it MX8400. A three node SKU also exists which Linksys sells as the MX12600. Stupid and confusing? Yes, but that's what Linksys went with.
Hmm, I'd say reuse is the opposite of waste.

Again, the router's usb external storage is working fine with my win7 computers, but not with Win10/11 computets. My old TM-AC1900 router's usb external storage is recognized in win10, and win11 (after enable SMB1.0). My MX4200 is version1, and there's no configuration options in the External Storage menu. May be that's the case?
In my case, the external USB drive isn't recognized or attached/enabled by the router to begin with. It doesn't matter what version of Windows I am running as it's not my PC that can't see the drive: It's the router.

I just opened mine and I wish I had done so sooner.
I got the mx8400 it looked used. The power adapters are not the correct ones. They are 12 volt, 2 amp and the router specifies on the bottom 12 volt 3 amp.
But what's more concerning is that the box had a certified refurbished sticker over the tape seal saying for support contact Linksys at a "Linksys" phone number. I called this number to attempt to get the correct power adapters.
It turned out to be a phone number for what sounded like a social security/Medicaid scam. Same phone number was affixed on a tag to the incorrect chargers saying if you need help contact this phone number.
Did anyone else have a similar experience?

Sorry, mine are both 3 Amp. Looked new except for the sticker sealing the box. Does yours have an additional sticker with "QC Inspected"?

The insulation on my power adapter is damaged with bare wire showing. I contacted Woot but haven't heard back from them.

Contact Woot. They just refunded me after I received a damaged power adapter. It looked like an animal had chewed the insulation down to the bare wire. They must not look at the adapters.
