Without VRR for HDMI input/Consoles I would pass if you plan to use this for 61-120fps console games or you'll see a lot of tearing. The older model is better for consoles.

for consoles since you are stuck with 60 fps but why would that count against it in pc gaming i wonder...

Neither 2724 nor 2725 model can swivel 90degrees to achieve portrait orientation. I do like these prices.

what would be a good similarly priced option for a 27 Inch 1440P monitor for non gaming purposes? I already have a 27 LG gaming monitor so want a another 27 inch for just everyday usage and media consumption etc. I don't care if it's new or refurb either

The 24D refurbished mentioned earlier is really good. I got one for my daughter and was very impressed (better than LG GL850).

Thanks, I opted for the G2724D (refurbished w/90 day warranty) over the G2725D (new) for $10.88 more (w/tax).
