Thanks for posting OP! Amazon wasn't dropping the price, so I purchased this on Newegg. I've been using H&R Block for several years now. 👍🏻

Does this include high yield savings accounts interest yields? I think it's 1099-int?
Yes in the other income section you can input all the other 1099s.

Kind of clownish. Compare prior years, we've seen $18 or cheaper by this time (multiple times). You are waiting a month to get your refund because you THINK you'll save $2.50. Just not worth it.

It seems like when I buy this text software, I can't do my state ones until the last minute anyways. There's always something that they need to update or whatever in my state

in fact last year, I filed the federal, and I couldn't file the state tax. after I filed the federal, my driver's license expired. and then whenever I tried to file the state, I couldn't do it because they didn't match the federal. it was a real pain in the butt

if I change my license date to the expired one, it was expired threw an error. if I changed it to the new license date of the new license that was renewed, it said it didn't match so it wouldn't do it

If your AGI is under 84k, you can file Fed and State for free at H&R Block Website:

What's worse if you want an extension, they charge about the same (likely exactly), for an extension. Fortunately, I was able to do that at the state tax web site. Yeah, I paid for the final return e-file. Otherwise it was calling for federal schedules (in one case because the program didn't fill in the stock sales for NJ, just referred to Federal Schedule D that you have to separately print). Likely at least 3 stamps, plus no proof of filing unless I took off from work to go wait on line at the post office to send it certified, adding to the avoided cost. I wish more/all states would pull what NY did. They require e-file whenever possible and require tax software to do so for no additional charge. Oh, and if you want a second (or subsequent) state return, it costs more than the federal+state with these deals, and you can only get it from HRBlock. I think I read of a workaround by buying two "plus state" products. I don't know if that ever worked but it doesn't now. You can only download for $40+tax, no download from the website for the free [included] state, it must be done by the software and it doesn't save it. Not sure what they do if you don't have an internet connection (but if you claim that, you'd better not plan on e-filing even the included federal ones). Not even sure how it works with no internet connection as they have a number of updates, and if you get a box version, it was cut before any of the updates.
The other option is to go to https://www.freefilefillableforms.com/ and use the extension form there which is pretty simple and easy. It's free and electronically submitted of course.

If people held out more from buying things, inflation would not be as bad (from companies making record breaking profits) and scalpers would be less of a thing.

This could easily be $30-40 if everyone had that same mindset and bought it for just $2 more every year.

You assume so many things that are not true for everyone. First, I usually have to pay the government, so waiting another month or two is beneficial, Secondly, many of my tax forms have not been sent out yet. Schwab says that it will be the end of February. I can't be the only one using Schwab, and likely some other investment houses do that too. Third, people have other things to do in life than immediately jumping on doing their taxes. In short, it doesn't make sense to buy the software earlier when mid March is just a good.

If you look at the past few years, the best prices have come from mid-Feb through the first week of March. Maybe past prices this year are showing that inflation has struck on this more than average goods (except eggs) and we will have to pay higher prices or turn to that free Excel tax spreadsheet.

It is cheaper to do it that way, but since my friend had his return stolen (he thinks either from the mailbox or post office itself) I have been springing for the extra cost to efile. He is still trying to get that mess straightened out and has not received his refund from 2023 return. Even when I was mailing my return, I used to send it registered/certified mail and I think that has gone up to around $10 now so efiling for me isn't much more and safer I think.
I Always print & mail my folded Federal & State for probably 20 years and take it directly to Post office in a regular envelope and regular shipping, never had an issue. Its funny when I look at all people in line purchasing a 8 1/2 x 11 mailer, certified, proof of delivery, etc. Seems like wasting your money doing all that!

The free TurboTax online offer posted here a while back was working out good for me. But all my tax forms aren't gonna be ready by their stupid February 18 deadline so it's kind of useless.

Deluxe does all the same forms.
Deluxe doesn't do rental properties and other investments.

How is this a FrontPage deal? It's the same lame price they have been posting in deals since December. I think the very first deal they posted months ago for tax year 2024 was $22.49. Are people so stupid they think this is a great deal simply because they keep re-posting the same deal over and over?
