The Gold Edition adds some weapons, skins, and treasures (ie, in game currency) along with Separate Ways, the Ada DLC campaign. If you are pretty sure you'll want to play Separate Ways, then this will save you a buck and give you some just-okay in-game stuff.

If you're not sure if you will enjoy the game or really sink your teeth into it, it's not a huge loss if you start with the base game and pick Separate Ways later. The base game is still fantastic.

I don't particularly fond of Resident Evil games but 4 was my reintroduction to it and heavily enjoyed it that I bought the original remakes.
