Never use the words VA and gaming together. VA is cheap for a reason. In fact moving scenes, VA blurs the screen. Nothing you can do about it... It's the tech.
VA does have better blacks vs IPS's dark greys but IPS does not blur like VA
I get that this is not for gaming, but is it good for work?I write code all day and I know there's massive burn-in for OLED when you have the same windows open basically 24-7. Not sure if IPS > VA for work. Thanks in advance.
if u code all day, this could work. But IPS > VA even in work
When the screen scrolls filled with text, a VA monitor will be unreadable until the scrolling stops. With an IPS this is not an issue. IPS is what you want.
Now IPS monitors are cheap, the only IPS monitors that are expensive are the high refresh ones that people use for gaming. Even with a lowly 60 or 75 refresh IPS, I never had a problem gaming but some people swear that if you don't have a 144+ refresh monitor that you somehow cannot game LOL
You question was not about gaming but I still recommend a name brand IPS. Even an ultrawide as you could have multiple windows up at the same time.

In most cases I agree, with the primary exception being some of the Samsung Odysseys. They seem to have made it work well without blur.
Im probably in the minority but to me low to mid quality tier IPS tends to be worse than a lot of the VA panels for one reason: backlight bleed and uneven dark colors cancel out most of the other benefits to me. When you're used to a very evenly lit OLED TV it can be particularly jarring. Made especially apparent if you sit in anything other than a brightly lit room. The IPS=always better statements always feel a bit misleading in that sense.

Any cheap monitor is going to have tradeoffs. Yes you can buy the very same IPS monitor and get very different amounts of bleed. I've been pretty lucky but the way I look at it, I have a good change to get an IPS monitor without much or no bleed but with a cheap VA monitor you will get blurring 100% of the time.
Are the comments about VA monitors with blur ar 60hz? This is a 144hz and made for gaming so I have a hard time believing a name brand gaming monitor will be nothing but blurry at hfr settings
I see a flock of these on Facebook going for $150, I have 2 at work, email and some light gaming. Colors are okay, not the best gaming monitor for color accuracy but great for league of legends and Forza.
IMO not worth it at this price, if you can get this under $200, for sure 🙌
