You might be in the minority.
I think most people interested in a 4k UHD Blu Ray player find the included streaming apps useless!

My 4K TV can stream, my Android box can stream, my game consoles and PCs can stream and all those things are already connected to the TV so why in the world would I need yet another thing that streams....... I got my Bluray player to play Bluray discs.

Better quality, better upscaling(BR/DVD), supports DV on disc, supports SACD/DVD-A.

I really have yet to see that striking differenceI always say the better panel winsI did an in home experiment of a Samsung QN90a with HDR10 and a Hisense U8H with Dolby Vision a couple of years ago with some Tv's I ownIn no way did Dolby Vision correct the picture processing challenges on the Hisense U8 and there was a clear difference between it and the Samsung QN90a playing HDR with the same video from the same playerPeople seemed to have raved about the Hisense U8 then and still do.and frankly its a good dealBut Dolby Vision doesnt help its picture processing challenges
DV on TCL QM8 is phenomenal. Arrows release of The Invasion in DV was amazing.

DV on Hisense U8H , playing Planet Earth 4K disc, was anything but phenomenal
The banding in wide shot aerial scenes, especially with green, was poor and something you could not unsee
Black levels were great and almost ear searing brightness though
The Samsung QN90a, though not as bright and playing HDR10, was much better at picture processing

8K - Japan broadcasts and streaming. No 8k discs yet, so that gives a preview of where the market might head.
For the love of God, please use something like a flash drive for ownable 8K content. No more 12 cm optical discs!

Using a console to stream doesn't wear down its life? That's why I just get Roku Ultras.

My 85 inch 4K TV just broke in a move. I will be buying some on sale 75 inch TV to have my home theater working.
I have zero experience watching a 4K disc, only steaming. One basic question- are 4K discs noticeably better than what one gets from streaming?
Also, TV will have 4K upscaling and the 4K Blu-ray has 4K upscaling. How does the player or TV deal with the already upscaled content from the disc? Which is better (in general) at doing the upscaling? I just gave away over 500 DVDs in a move. Will a Blu-ray upscale to a better final picture than a DVD? How dramatic is the difference between buying a Blu-ray and having it upscaled vs the often very expensive 4K discs as well as the lack of the available content vs a regular Blu-ray? I am guessing a 4K disc will come with the newest versions of Dolby etc as one advantage.
I am going to ķbe using the same 7 speakers I already have which I have been using as two larger front mains, and Smaller surround speakers on stands-two front and two rears, and a center channel. I am happy with their performance using the AVRs calibration slightly tweaked. I am now in a apartment vs.a house so while.I have 3 powered subs I don't think I can use them without disturbing my neighbors. It is a forced compromise.
I realize this is alot to unpack but if someone would help me out in this decision making I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

According to page 29 of 40, yes it does. It even does SUPER audio CD's.

Those are very broad questions & ultimately every person has their own expectations and compromises.

My take in short and in general.
This all follows the chain:
Content>processing device>display.

Content: 4k disc is king especially on the audio side compared to streaming.
Streaming is for people that prioritize convenience sacrificing quality, some people find the compromise worth it.

Player: This is very complicated & causes much debate.
In general dynamic HDR(Dolby Vision/HDR10+) is better than static HDR/HDR10.
The difference between them can vary wildly from disc to disc.
Two major reasons, transfer quality of both metadata's & processing(tone mapping) of HDR, there is no standard.
Upscaling to 4k, a 4k player will likely always do it much better.

The end of the chain,displays.
They just process what it's given. Better quality, better results.

Object based soundtracks(Atmos/DTS:X) is another highly debated topic.
Imo upgrading to it is really only beneficial when done optimally.
It's costly to do and most people can't/won't do in ceiling speakers.
There are many alternatives but that's really all they are.

The good thing is a good legacy setup(5/7.1) can easily if not surpass the performance of the alternatives.

Just my opinion from personal experience.

I was mulling over a 4k blu ray player and this one or the 800 seemed to come up a lot as a budget solution. I got the Panasonic Ub450. It doesn't have the upscaling processor that the 420 and 820 has but I think the LG OLED does an okay job. I couldn't justify double the cost so 450 it was. 700 seems to have issues with certain triple layer disc's and skipping. Haven't had the Panasonic skip and it does both HDR and Dolby vision auto switching. Just the convenience of that sold me on the cheaper ub450. I didn't need upscaling or apps because anything that does a lot of things okay, aren't really great at the one thing you want them to be at.

Less moving parts than a PS5. I don't watch NF, Hulu, etc on my phone too. Next.

This seems like a great price. I went with the Panasonic due to the reports of discs skipping and freezing with the Sony models. The Panasonics range from $150-$400 for the good and better versions (UB420, UB450, and UB820).
I snagged a used version of this Sony a couple years ago for about this price and have been happy. I have not experienced the skipping issue, my main complaint is that you manually have to toggle Dolby Vision on or off. For the price, it's solid.
