Great price for a decently reviewed tablet/keyboard/pen combo. Unfortunately, Lenovo is awesome at developing really compelling hardware for the price they put it out for and then abandoning those products with little-to-no updates. If you get this tablet, just understand that you may not get the longevity of updates you would from other brands like Samsung. Lenovo's forums are filled with customers that invested in their hardware and were essentially abandoned as the company just moved on to the next products. This is primarily true of Android devices as Google provides security and OS updates to brands that license Android but Lenovo has a track record of only picking bits and pieces of those updates to implement in their products which creates security risks. Does this mean something to everyone? No. Is it a slimy way to treat customers? IMO, absolutely.

That being said, I'm still a fan of many Lenovo products with the exception of their android devices. I have a Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook device I got "open-box: excellent" condition from Best Buy a year ago for about $260. It came like it had never even been touched and Chromebooks get direct updates for Chrome OS direct from Google so you don't have to worry nearly as much about Lenovo managing features like they do with their Android devices.

Like I said, not everyone cares about this but it is definitely worth noting so people don't go into this purchase with an expectation of extensive support or longevity of what support Lenovo does offer. I won't buy android devices from Lenovo until they can begin to invest back into their customers who buy android devices by way of properly supporting their devices after the sale is made.

Bought two of these in the recent Amazon sale, in order to replace our kids Fire Tablets and then cancel our Amazon Kids+ subscription, as we already have YouTube Family/cutting back on subscriptions. The P12 works great for Google Kids Space. It is plenty fast and the kids enjoy it. I have no idea if it's good for anything more demanding, because I don't use it, but I can say it's way zippier than the most recent fire tablet. Recommend for a solid fire tablet alternative.

So is it worth returning the S9 FE to get this one instead?
No. Just keep the S9 FE. Samsung has been in the tablet game for a while so their software is better. It's kinda wild that the dude you are talking to think the HW is better on the Samsung. Techincally, the Lenovo is slightly better HW but the Samsung is definitely better SW wise and you will get more SW updates. If you are used to Samsung ecosystem it's a nobrainer to stick to Samsung

If you want to be extra sure you can get this and compare both of them in real life and then return which ever one you like least.

I have to say Amazon branded devices are crap. Surprisingly low end specs, the lowest they can get away with. That fireos is a joke. Regret buying a fire instead of a tablet or an iPad

I've been checking daily with no update either, so at least you're not alone. Looks like typical operating procedure for them, unfortunately. Mine has a few more days until it passes expected delivery date and I'll start screaming at that point - super disappointed in how long it's taken already

My guess is that their ETA already took that into consideration and this feels like pre ordering lol

Don't disagree. Got first update yesterday saying order would be late (full 10+ days in at this point on an OTS config). Entire update is that it is late and will miss tomorrow delivery date, but it will ship within 30 days..

Interwebs have a few threads where it seems like Lenovo has a history of disappointing customers via delivery broken promises, so doubt it's going to change. I guess good for them and their backlog, but damn does it blow as consumer of theirs. Falls wayyy short of expectations - first they gotta breed and birth the horse to draw the postal buggy XD

Thank you for your recent purchase with Lenovo. Your order is very important to us, and we are working very hard to get your order shipped as soon as possible. Currently your estimated ship date is 3/18/2025.

I messaged their online support and received the above one day later from the fulfillment team

Speak of the devil, I got an email confirmation mine just shipped a few hours ago! Says estimated delivery date is tomorrow, so maybe silver lining if it really is next day once ships

Safe to assume it makes it as described if don't update here again - biggest detractor from Lenovo direct 'deals' (as far as I'm convinced) is up to 30 days radio silence before shipping and that's certainly enough to sway a purchase decision. Does NOT sound like these are isolated cases either

My theory is that deeper discounts by Lenovo direct are lowest internal priority. If this is business as usual for products they make a killing off of and/or sell no discount.. then they should just not sell or make it clear upfront what to expect. Waiting a month to ship a non-custom product is insanity in 2025..
