Unfortunately no. There is No CLI or SSH support. No SNMP. Very basic features (VLAN, QoS, etc.). You must use their software, or web GUI. To get SSH/CLI..etc, need the GS3xxT line which of course are significantly more expensive than this.
It's nice that this switch has 2 LEDs per port indicating the speed of the link (10M/100M/1G); cheaper ones don't have that and you have to check from the computer/switch.

Do update the firmware (1.0.1.3 here https://www.netgear.com/support/p.../#download) and change the default password (which is "password" 😂) even if you don't use the smart managed features.
The about this deal is wrong. It was $27.99 last week, so this is $2.99 better than last week.

I bought it last week and set it up this weekend to light up the Ethernet jacks in my apartment. It just works right out of the box. I have 6 jacks, so this was perfect. It also improved throughput. Rooms where the Wi-Fi was only getting 300 MB are now getting the advertised 1 gb speed. I highly recommend Ethernet over Wi-Fi whenever possible.

Not a bad price for a solid gig home ethernet switch. But who needs managed (vlans etc) for home? I'm an IT guy and I can only think of limited scenarios for home use. I use my router's guest network for IoT. What's left of it anyway, I have stopped using the spybots in my house except for my nest doorbell. I don't need Alexa or Giggle spying on me all the time.
I am an IT guy in security and this is exactly what I am starting to do with all my of IoT devices (smart lights, smart plugs, etc).

The AE one is an unmanaged switch.

I managed to get by with WiFi Guest networks too except when I went cloudfree and needed the IoT devices to talk to a server that was wired Ethernet only at which point I added VLANs to my home network. Which then allowed me to get wired IoT devices too.

Admittedly, that transition was non-trivial to pull off

Yeah, that's the problem with using the guest network for everything. It's not going to allow connections between devices and sometimes you need that but don't want them to communicate with stuff on your "production" network. At that point, it's time for some real VLANs.
Nothing wrong with being lazy and going the easy route until you get to that point though.

I tried one of these, unmanaged, and had issues. Anyone knowledgeable on what I did wrong?

Have three Nest Wifi Pro devices, all hardwired together to use the best coverage.

I added the netgear unmanaged switch to the primary nest wifi pro, then from the switch connected to to the other nest wifi pros and any other Ethernet devices.

Te other two nest WiFi pros are now getting connected from the switch. The pros have another port on them so I used that for hardwiring a device next to it.

Issue was, some devices wouldn't connect this way. It looked like it was duplicating ip addresses.

Anyone know if you can create a trunk with this ? I want to create a few vlans and use a trunk port to feed to my Home firewalls to control policies for those vlans.

The GS305E AND GS308E support 802.1q.

Yeah it's a normal consumer managed switch. Wouldn't think otherwise.

Well, he was responding to someone who asked. But yeah, for $25.....one would not expect CLI/SSH.

What's the difference between the GS108 & GS308? I've got some understanding of basic network stuff, but don't see any differences that jump out at me...
I got a 108 a while back for myself & helping my father setup a larger home network as well. Wondering if I should pickup the 108 or 308 for him.
And no real need for managed w/ VLANs, guest network does well enough for smart devices & the few guests not trusted on the real network 😂
