For $28 it's not a bad deal. This is a v4. I have a couple older v2 variants of the 308E and an older 8-port ProSafe switch that was apparently the precursor to this line. They handle VLANs alright but be aware that unlike a true managed switch, near as I can tell it's not possible to restrict the management interface to a specific VLAN. For a home environment where you're looking to segregate your IoT stuff from the rest of your network that's probably fine.

Exactly how i use this switch. TP-Link has a functional equivalent which I own as well; both work fine with variations in the web-based management interface for VLAN setup, but both are pretty easy to figure out. The TP-Link switch is currently the same price as this Netgear switch, so it's a tossup in my experience as to which switch you get, based on the similar (good) experience I've had with both brands.

Have older model, but I was never able to get VLAN trunking (different VLANs over a single link) to work on this. Single VLAN worked fine.

Had no issues on the HP Procurve (enterprise) managed switch.
