I certainly wouldn't sub these for reading the book.

Obviously you need the book to explain concepts but I could see an important place for a pictographic to explain exactly how long it takes for plants and animals to adapt across latitudes versus longitudes for example. Other than corn I can't remember the exact details and examples. I'd love to have a pictograph I could flip to when I'm trying to wrap my head around a specific evolution or population expansion.
With that being said, this book is REALLY well written and I highly recommend reading it, despite what you may feel personally about Yuval Harrari.

I concur with this Amazon review (except maybe about the graphic detail - was also underwhelmed by the art and design):
"Cute, creative, and extraordinarily detailed graphically. But after "loving" Sapiens, this was underwhelming in terms of getting the messages the author has to present."
